Television reports say strong tremors were felt in the east coast this evening. There are no detailed reports as yet.

Team hope you are ok and no damage or injury for those of us on the eastern coast / belt.

Mods: I noted one of the earlier post on earthquake was under shifting gears. Please move if necessary.

My dad messaged me that a mild tremor was felt in Adyar, Chennai.

Per posts on FB the epicentre of this quake was 12 kms off the Telangana(Andhra)/Orissa coast and measured 6.0 on the Richter scale.

Some people in the high rises in Gurgon have also reported tremors but we did not know about it / felt anything at all in Dilli, till reading about it on social media.

Even I did not feel anything. Yes the epicentre was off the coast and in the Bay of Bengal.

I also didn't feel anything in Calcutta, but my friends who stays in suburbs felt it.
Maybe Godzilla is coming :D

My parents and brother in Bhubaneswar felt tremors for about 15 seconds. Mild, but definitely scary.
I was on phone with my brother, when he asked mom to run out. The phone was on and I could hear commotion and after some 10 seconds, the call got disconnected. I was left helpless and anxious sitting here in B'lore.

BSNL Network went down and no communication was possible. Luckily managed to speak to them over Docomo and Vodafone, after 30mins.

All the 64 families of our apartment society were out of their homes and the apartment campus for about 1 hour after which they went back. No damages to any of the flats.

After reading some reports online and watching TV, it was found that the Epicentre was in Bay of Bengal, about 200kms from Paradeep, a port town in Orissa. It was recorded as 6.2 on Richter scale. No Tsunami fears either.

Interesting fact is that a major fault line runs through NH5, passing through Bhubaneswar, and just about 2 kms from our apartment. Gave me a shocker, when I first came to know about it, some 10 years back and we (mom, me and brother) were like "Dad....Grrrr" :D
