Has anyone heard about these hydro phobic paints being used in coastal cities like mumbai?
Anyone have any experience with such products?

I have used this and this really works! I use it on my formal shoes when I go out in the rains. Works perfectly! I don't know if this can be used on our cars :D

Was it the same brand or some other brand?
Did it change the appearance or texture of the leather?

The Exact same thing, I had someone carry it in for me from the US couple of years back.
I used it on a brownish suede shoes, it does leave a frosty finish on the top. Being brown and Suede the frosty finish didn't look too bad :uncontrol It wont look very nice on smooth black surfaces. Keep an eye on that.

i think i will get it for my shoes and doors on the terrace of my house. i like a matte finish on shoes anyway :D
cheers:

Hey, it doesn't leave a matt finish per say but its more like a frosty icey finish, but you must try this atleast once. And the yes the best place to use this is on your shoes or some doors. :D

Woah! This looks extremely useful. Can anyone tell me how long the efficacy lasts once coated?

On my shoes they lasted for over 3 months This was with below average use.

And does the stated "frosty" effect, wear off along with the efficacy of the coating or does it remain? (Just wondering so I know if it's okay to keep using it once in a while on the same pairs of shoes)

Yes it does. The frosty effect does has a rough finish to it.

Does anyone know of similar products of the car wind shield? i would like something like this for my rear windshield since it doesn't have a wiper. if it lasts the 3-4 months that monsoon lasts in this country, i will be more than happy.
