Man killed over argument on the pros & cons of the Mahindra Reva

http://www.htsyndication.com/htsport...E-TERM/5325408

Quote:
New Delhi, Aug. 26 -- A Delhi court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing an acquaintance with a dumbbell for disagreeing with him over the merits of the Mahindra Reva car.

While noting that "the case does not fall into the rarest of the rare category", additional sessions judge Kamini Lau sent Bihar resident Abhijit Raj, 27, to rigorous life imprisonment. She also imposed a fine of ' 1 lakh on him, which will be paid to the family of the victim Ashish Kumar Sharma as compensation.
Scares me...

Why would someone want to kill to defend their cars? Its not as if the Reva was manufactured by him or anything!

Really sad state of affairs. But when one is drunk, it does not matter on what one argues, they defend it at any cost, rational or not!! I have noticed fisticuffs but this is too much

Two young lives spoilt due a drunken brawl.

All I can say is

But lets remember the bottomline for the argument, fight and murder - It's Alcohol.
Getting drunk and arguing with whomsoever is pretty dangerous. I had my own share of drunken arguments with close friends over petty issues like why is our lane narrow and not tarred, why is there no streetlight, blah blah....Day to day issues can turn ugly when one is drunk. Not just with cars, unless he is a fanboy of some car.

I think apart from Alcohol its the stress level these days. People i have seen are too stressed these days. Sometimes I have seen fist fights happening on the road between educated people on a slight touch of cars which you might not even be able to notice and can be easily ignored.

They could have argued about the correct size of stitches in their undergarments, for all the difference it would have made after alcohol.
I've done it, and I've faced it as a teetotaler for years now, that Delhi has the worst drunks in the country. We have our sophisticated drinkers, and people who keep it in check, but the rest only know 2 stages- sober or black-out.

Sophisticated drinkers keep check and upon provocation, use Gun.
Have read a zillion times, of rich (sophisticated) person shooting another richie rich in a hi fi pub or a sports bar in Noida / Gurgaon (All those huge malls there).

This poor fellow hit his friend with a dumbell.
Over what - A Mahindra Reva.

May be he hadn't seen THIS Reva.

You know who I mean.
Rich doesn't mean sophisticated, or rather, sensible/responsible ( the context that I meant), at least in Delhi for sure.

This is why I always tell people to think with their minds instead of their mouth... Unfortunately, the opposite is what people do.

Daru and tongue= Hideous cocktail.

Unfortunate incident where a young soul loses his life for what is a petty topic.

Its always better to review what you say :

Don't know whether to laugh or cry over this. A lot of alcohol in the blood and brain can lead to disastrous effects. In the end, a life is lost. It doesn't matter over what they fought about.

Though discussing about alcohol is prohibited on these boards, but alcohol does not suddenly make a person demon.

In this case, I am sure the person had a natural tendency to get angry and violent very fast for trivial reasons. Alcohol only emboldens this tendency.

This is the height of lunacy, killing a man over a car debate. I guess the killer must have bought the car and couldnt bear listening the rants made by the deceased. I thought good cars are a better intoxicants than alcohol but here its the other way round. Poor chap loses his life over a Mahindra. Sad. Real Sad.

re: Man killed over argument on the pros & cons of the Mahindra Reva

I think the report is oddly specific! What does it matter whether they were fighting over Reva or a Merc?! No publicity is bad publicity eh?

Too many easy jokes are possible, but a life is unnecessarily lost, so paying my respect to the dead, and hope the killer gets a sense knocked into him.

EDIT: Curiosity got the better of me. There are some people here on team bhp that follow Reva religiously. What was the version at the time of incidence - 26 Feb 2012?

Shocked!! Not getting words to express my feelings on this.

A precious life is lost for no reason.
