Well first of all good incentive scheme and it generated lots of free advertising for them , However lots of companies give incentives /variable pay to the tune of 25 - 30%. In fact for the market linked target oriented jobs this is the norm
as some portion of salary is linked to performance.

If you show this as CTC and give in cash it generates no hype and media coverage also employees take it as granted and pay no special attention beyond couple of months but always cash benefits are more beneficial to employees as they have flexibility to choose versus someone else imposing choice on them.

However surprisingly most people I have talked to don't realize this and keep on clamouring for gifts.

The guy did not have even a penny in his pocket when he came to Surat, and look at him today.

Average salary of an employee is 1 lakh INR, that's quite a good amount for the workers. And the company has quite a huge workforce.

Something is surprising.

It is mentioned that the cars were given to people who did not have a four wheeler. So that means 491 people out of the 600 did not have cars even though the average monthly salary is over 1L.
