Re: The Scale Model Thread

Siddvi - Amply detailed Karmann Ghia. Good photoghaphy.

In line with my theme, I was / am about to add photoghaphs of some icons that came from Britain but at the last moment, our country barged in...

We are presently witnessing the development and launch of India specific cars by world leaders like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc.

Tata, after implementing the "platform strategy" in the last decade built (and continues to) numerous variants on the Indica platform. In 2008, the Vista and later, Manza were launched on a newly developed platform - X1.

Toyota has the India specific Etios and Etios Liva which again share the same platform and ... are built keeping only one thing in mind... COST. These cannot be said to be classified as fine examples of cost cutting.

Norev has come out with 1:43 scale models of the Manza, Vista and Nano. These have no opening features (which is good) and are true miniatures with no pull-back action whatsoever.

One day, just before Diwali these were on sale in our office and even though I do not collect 1:43 scale models and these are not even as per my theme, I bought them, reason being I have played a major role in developing Technical Literature of both, the Vista as well as the Manza.

The Toyota models are in 1:32 scale and were gifted to me by my friend Amit. These are proper toys and have pull-back action

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Coming to cars from the land of our county's earstwhile rulers: Britain.

The British car industry can be credited of giving birth to legends like Rolls Royce, Bently, Jaguar, Land Rover... to name just a few.

Numerous British cars were also contenders of the COTC (Car Of The Century) title.

Today, what is left of the British car industry is very little, Rolls Royce, Bently and Mini is owned by the Germans, Jaguar and Land Rover by India's Tata Motors and Aston Martin has recently changed hands and is probably Chinese owned (after Ford sold it off).

Many british cars made their mark in motorsport also.

The Jaguar E Coupe 1:18 scale model by BBurago (Italy)of 1961 is the second model of my collection. This model has been lightly customised by adding fog lamps, painting the bumpers red, some pinstriping, etc.

My MGB 1:18 Auto Art model is one of my latest models. This model is of an MGB that participated in the Nurburging race of 1967.

The 1956 Aston Martin DB5 is an Auto Art 1:18 scale model and is fantastically detailed and is also heavier than other Auto Arts in my collection. Accompanying it is a relatively modern Vantage by Maisto

The rally legends duo of Fords (Escort - 1974 and Focus - 1997): The Escort is by Sun Star and the Focus is by BBurago (Italy).

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@Siddvi: Amazing rendition of an amazing car. You pictures are also good. I have the same in 1:24 by Minichamps.

@Amar: I am not much fan of new age cars. But of the lot I like your trio of British cars. I too have the MGB, but yours has an edge as it is in British racing green. The DB5 is also very nice, but then the 'E' type steals the show.

By the way did you added fog lamps from another car or made it yourself. And it seems you love rally cars to the hilt. Thank god I have not cought on that bug yet.

On othe rnote do you have Toyota Celica Rally car of the 90's. I think any line up would not be complete without that model.

Here's a Ferrari F40 and a Ferrari Enzo (Test Car) in 1:12 scale by Kyosho.
Hope you guys like what you see!

That F40 is really nice but the detail on my 1:18 seem to be slightly better than this 1:12 piece. Maybe it is just my eyes.

Oh, also. The Kyosho Ferrari F40 Lightweight Edition in Black is here.

Pics soon

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Was away from the forum for a few days - Jeez, what a haul !!

Siddvi: The 'International' looks fantastic. And your Karmann is wonderfully detailed - need to get myself one soon !!

Amar: Wow, it's great to see scale models of cars we regularly see on our streets - a different feeling
And what to say of your Brit brutes - I'm floored - Loved your Escort, loved your Mini, loved them all !!

PetrolInMyVeins: Beautiful pair of prancing horses you've got there, mate !
