I got it via a friend returning from the US. Ordered it on Amazon. Was about 20 dollars. I wasn't able to find it in India.

Not the Caracciola one, and yes I think mine is 1:43 too. The history behind it is amazing.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Here are some plastic 1:36 Gypsy modified by me, these are the local super cheap shinsei made, which otherwise look worthless but some customization completely changes the perspective.
This is the original model which I have worked upon:

The Scale Model Thread-fb_img_1669868666272.jpg

This blue one is inspired by the various safari vehicles, additions include rollover frame, front crash guard, ladder at the rear, hella lamps, registration number, ORVM, Wheel arch trim, and some detailing like color to the turn indicators, window beading highlights etc.

The next yellow one is inspired from the rally spec Gypsy, with body graphics, hella roof mounted lamps, rollover frame, ORVM, Wheel arch trim, Flat bed at the rear, removal of rear seats, Apron on the B pillar, detailing touchups all around.

This black one is inspired from the armed forces, I have a memory of seeing a black gypsy which had the armed forces registration number. This piece was originally a blue gypsy, so I spray painted it in black, interiors are painted in red, red and purple stripe added on the body and minor detailing here and there.

Here are pics with all the three models in action.

Well as BHPian, we do have an appetite for customizations, may it be our real ride or our scale models

Re: The Scale Model Thread

New addition to my collection. 1:18 Honda Civic Type R by Otto Models. It is a sealed model ( no opening features) but the level of detailing is mind boggling. Easily one of the most spectacular models I have bought. And to know that it is of the 8th gen Civic which was also sold in India makes it even more special. This is 1105 of 2000 units worldwide. Here are some pics:

I purchased this model long back, sometime around year 2000 in the US. Thus, this scale model itself is more than 20 years old now, and unfortunately, has a few nicks and scratches, and some dust marks which are visible in the photos. Sorry about those.

This model has quite a good amount of details. The mode itself has "Made in Italy" mark in the bottom.

Nice one Doc. Good to see a 1:18 Ferrari model of the yesteryear BBurago which were made in Italy those days. I have the same one which I bought in I guess 1997. I also have a hard top version in yellow.

Sadly the new Bburago Ferrari 1:18s don't feel as good as the older ones. The new ones made in China. I'm really glad I bought as many Made in Italy Bburago Ferraris in the early 2000s before they lost the license to Hot Wheels ..

Thanks! Yes, those old models are amazing. You have a great collection and that yellow hard top version sounds great!

By the way, sharing a few pictures of another decade-old model from my collection. This is 1:18 scale model of 1927 Cadillac 314 Roadster!

Back in 2012, someone gifted me this model. What a wonderful gift that was. I love it when people know what I like and give such an appropriate gift :-)

Thank you, and agree completely. I love these scale models from the bygone era. They remind us of the automobile history and also help us see how car designs have evolved over a period of 100 years!

By the way, you have a very impressive scale model collection @shankar.balan. I was lucky to get to see that yesterday. Very impressive indeed. Thanks for showing your collection to us. Would love to see more photos of the beautiful models from your vast collection!

Ferrari 488 GTB (1:24 scale)

Very happy to acquire this beautiful scale model of Ferrari 488 GTB (in 1:24 scale) from Dubai, thanks to my good friend @robimahanta who recently visited Dubai and got this for me. This is an official Ferrari licensed product, purchased from a licensed Ferrari model shop in Dubai.

Sharing a few photos below:
