Hey nice collection Shankar, why don't you upload a picture of the collection along with the display cupboard .
And how are CORGI models compared to other company's models in terms of pricing and quality ? Because I haven't personally seen any CORGI models till date.

ahoy

thanks for the appreciation

will take pics of the display cupboards and post them soon - the little scale model cars fill up most of two full cupboards with some space occupied by the train set which is in its box along with some other games etc. I like to try and keep them in one place so I can view them and enjoy them whenever I wish to - in the music/ hang out area just outside my bedroom.

the total collection is at about 160 different vehicles as of now - I have been going a bit selectively crazy in the toy shops these last few years so I guess in a sense I am beserk. I love scale models and Im lucky my wife indulges this particular passion of collecting them.

I really prefer the 1:43 scale, especially for the classic cars and indeed, would like to slowly amass more and more of the great classic cars of the early to mid 20th century - primarily the great British, Italian and German marques from the '30's onwards right up to the '70's.

Corgi is ok in terms of quality - Welly is better frankly for roughly the same price - Corgi is available at most shops - try your local branch of Lifestyle/ Spar Supermarket.

I bought the whole lot of James Bond ones simply because I love James Bond books, movies and memorabilia and as luck would have it they were all on 50% discount today and I just took the lot - except for the Jag XKR and Aston from Die Another Day - those were not as good - quite tacky in fact.

The Thunderball DB5 and the Lotus from Spy Who Loved Me are working models - all the little gadgets work though they are not powered in any sense- there is a tiny little instruction manual with each.

cheers

@ Cyrus,
There are some 1:18 Mercedes scale models, but too expensive.
Tata Nano (1:18) will be available @ Tata dealers in February.
Will be my first ever 1:18.
