Tomy on the other hand is a long time player. Further still, Tomica Limited Vintage ==> TLV , is a subset, which mainly deals with collector stuff, whereas TomyTakara mainly deals with kids' toys.

Anyways, the attention to details and workmanship, that I have observed on a TLV / TLV(N), and the final product thus produced, is leaps ahead than other non Japanese manufacturers in the same field.

Nevertheless, every scale model is worth a collection in its own field

I agree with you on the quality, details and workmanship. The packaging is solid too. The other thing is that they also make buses and trucks.

About AW ownership, it is still TOMY International as indicated on the recent packaging released in December. Its been TOMY from 2011.

TLV is still the best for the sheer depth they have covered and the next best is AW with their 70s' cars.

The AW 1:64 Chevrolet Impala Coupe



One thing i find in Autoworld is the detailed chassis which is lacking in TLV despite being 2-3 times more in cost. Which AW model do you own?

Got a 1:43 Jeep Wrangler from the Jeep Showroom on Inner Ring Road.
Cannot afford the real thing at 91 odd lacs on the road so have to settle for this scale model which itself cost Rs. 2700.

This one looks excellent. I am a jeep model collector but in 1:64 scale only. Can you please share some more details about this one, like the manufacturer of this particular model. The images look crisp and if it's a dealer edition, then it's probably worth an affordable collection.

Did you like my Red Willys CJ3B High Bonnet 1:43 posted in the previous post to this one with the Wrangler?

This 1:43 Wrangler is a Jeep Licensed product which is why it cost so much.
However, it didn't have a box. It just came in the standard plastic case but no covering box. It is a Greenlight Model and hence the price seems in line with what I ve paid for Greenlight in the past.

How can anyone miss that lovely beauty? And moreover with the red color, its a journey to my past. There was a police ground near to my place and during weekends I could see a red one standing there. There was also another one, with a Yellow body color and black rhombus painted all over it. This particular one was used during the guard of honor parade. But the image of these two standing together, is something I cannot possibly ever forget.

Hard luck, I did not have a camera that time, but the memories are still fresh. Thank you again for reigniting the old thrill.

AutoArt detailing is fantastic. Bburago doesn't even come close to them. Maisto and Welly are better than Bburago.

Maisto's 1:18 300 SLR for example

I don't collect large scale models, but personally never liked Bburago. Earlier it was mainly because of their tyres. Now also they don't really match up with Maisto or Welly. But I still bought the Renault Alpine 1/24 scale and like it. The overall unique body shape, headlights and fog lamps really make it an interesting & timeless model. Plus Rally cars are my favourite.

I also still have the Hot Wheels from my childhood. Though paint is chipped and faded, but still have an emotional attachment with them. They were all metal then, and felt good to hold and play with. In fact I used you buy mostly ones with metal chassis - didn't like the ones with plastic chassis. Fascination continues with real cars also - bought Punto diesel in 2011, which was then the heaviest hatchback - not necessarily a good thing - but atleast gives a feeling of solidity.

I've always drooled over the Miura in pictures and videos, however seeing that drop-dead gorgeous design in 3 dimensions is something else (even though its just a scale model).
