Re: The Scale Model Thread

The smallest model cars I’ve ever heard of were of the 1:87 scale, used in railway dioramas. And then my friend got this one for me from Bangkok :

The Scale Model Thread-55d1c0756c4448efaea0b31835d9e876.jpeg

That’s a 1:100 scale Mercedes-Benz CLK Cabrio, and it is microscopic! For reference, that’s a 1:64 (SLR McLaren) and a 1:43 (Porsche 911 Turbo) on either side. And the best part, it is pretty well detailed for the scale!

Apparently, they gave these cars along with Georgia coffee in Japan

Ha ha! Would love to . Unfortunately though, I don't think they offer these any more. I couldn't find much information on these on the web either.

Ha ha! Thank you sir ! I always shoot such interesting models as soon I get my hands on them, so I have them ready to be shared with fellow petrolheads.

The Scale Model Thread

I don't really collect 1:43 models and these are 5 of the 7 in the collection.

Proud to present the modern Ferrari 5. Took some time as I wanted them in my favorite colors of each of the car.

The 288 GTO, F40 and F50 are Hotwheels Elite. The Enzo is a Kyosho. The Ferrari TheFerrari is Bburago Signature Edition.

All very appealing especially the yellow one. If not 1:43 which is your preferred size. Thanks.

Thank you sir. The yellow one is a 288 GTO and one hell of a looker.

My preferred size to collect remains 1:18. Current list is at 65/70 odd 1:18 models and an additional 4 on order for delivery in the coming months.

Thank you, Rohan, for your prompt reply. Please offer your candid view on 1:24 for collectors models? Where aircraft go I know what I want. On cars I'm still learning...and you are a good teacher.

Thank you for the kind words sir!

In my opinion 1:24 is the ideal size from a price and storage point of view. And some of the models available in 1:24 are beautifully detailed as well.

However, that being said, the 1:18s have a charm of their own and the level of detailing is definitely a step up in my personal opinion. But it all comes at a rather steep cost and some storage issues due to the size. As I wanted to go with quality over quantity, I have stuck to 1:18s mostly and burnt a small car size hole in my pocket.

If you'd like to collect a limited number of high quality detailed models (and storing and display is not an issue) my recommendation remains for 1:18. As always, happy to discuss this more over a cup of coffee with you!

Regards
Rohan

So so beautiful Dippy! Totally made my day.

Your collection was one of the main reasons why i got in to collecting scale models about 7 years back. I was not a member then so could never comment but used to oogle at your models all the time.

Cheers!

Hi Royal_snake

What scale makes are the models. I will be interested in premium 1/18 scale models.

Let me know.
