Re: The Scale Model Thread

This afternoon I went to visit a little car model museum near us. Only about 6 km down the road.

It claims to have 7000 car models!!

I ended up spending about 3,5 hours there. It is minute, but the collection is just out of this world!

A little impression:

A very substantial part of my time there was talking to the owner Berndt. He is a bit older than I am (13 years, he is 72). But as it turns out, we were both born in Amsterdam and we both grew up in Amstelveen and we both went to the same school (Keizer Karel College). So we spend a lot of time talking about people and place we both knew.

Berndt started his collection some two decades ago. He owns several British classic cars and he is also the organiser of the Lingewaal Classic rally.

We participated in that rally earlier this year:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/beyon...therlands.html (Vintage & Classic Cars touring around our village in the Netherlands!)

His museum is organised by Brand. When I looked at the Alfa Romeo Section I noticed he did not have a model of the Alfa Romeo Spider Series 3 (i.e. my Alfa Spider). As it so happens I happen to have two very nice 1:43 scale Series 3. So next week my wife and I are going back and we will donate our Spider to his museum.

I also bought a model of my Jaguar. I have a 2002 Jaguar XJR, (X308). Very few models exist. And if anything they have not been produced for the last 10-15 years. But Berndt had two, brand new, in the box, XJ8s. From the outside they are just about identical to the XJR.

So I had to have it. These photographs do not do much justice, it is really a a very nice model.

So I have my Christmas Holiday car project cut out for me. I am going to modify this model, restraint it, to make it identical to my Jaguar XJR! First thing, this week is to get a spray can of the correct paint made.

more to come

Sorry for the delay as I was riding to Bhutan and back.

Yes they responded after I emailed them that I would post this on social media and sent them the Team Bhp link. The replacement was shipped a week later and it took another week for it to arrive at the destination. This time it was intact even though the packaging needs to be seriously given an after thought.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

As I said before, I do not consider myself a (car) model collector at all.

I only buy what I like for a specific reason and it needs to be cheap too.

Other than models of the cars I own I tend to like models of certain fire engines, classic tractors, and a few other odds ones. Just because I liked the model (e.g. Dinky toys Steam tractor, an army wrecker/tow truck. An old Citroen van I liked. I don’t care about scale or brand either. I have a very nice Unimog model (because I want to own a 1:1 version some day, and a Lamborghini tractor with eight tracks because I had never seen anything like it.

Just picked up these two nice fire trucks during a weekend away with my wife. Found them in a bric-a-brac / vintage sort of shop that sold just about everything. They had a very large range of these sort of model, all for Euro 5, with is about the price of a cup of Starbucks here. I liked these two the best. Very nice little models of an era that made for interesting fire engines!

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Hi Everyone,

Recently I have gone into model building from Revell, Airfix, and Tamiya. Looking for an airbrush, compressor, paints etc in New Delhi.

Can anyone please guide me where can I find one. I could get the airbrush and compressor from amazon but the paints are too expensive online.

Would appreciate any sort of helo on this.

Thanks

1966 Dodge Charger 1/18 Road Signature Collection

Hi everyone,

I would like to share photos of a miniature Dodge Charger that I purchased from the Delhi Comic Con.

The bare minimum in these miniature versions is that the front doors open. However, look at the detailing of the interiors. Moving the steering wheel turns the front wheels slightly. The bonnet opens too! Look at the detailing of the wires.

Thank you. It's a 1:18 model. Keeping it at my desk makes me want to work harder to own this some day!

Recent additions to my 1:18 Motorcycle collection and a photo of where these would ultimately head.

Year started on a good note.

Finally took the delivery of Norev W140 S600 to compliment the W124.

Yes, lets catch up soon.
