the second pic is definately from multiple shots(correct me if I am wrong rudra). Getting such a dynamic range from a single shot is almost impossible.

It's not multiple shots. Just some skilled post-processing. I have watched him do it in front of me.

No multiple shot TSK. One image only with Cokin graduated (Tabac) filter to enhance the sky tone. It was shot around 5.45 - 6 am.

Enhancement can always be done in Photoshop..provided basic information is there.

A graduated filter effectively helps in increasing the dynamic range.

So in absence of such a filter, theoretically for a static subject, one exposure is to be made for the highlights and other for the shadows and blend them later.

PS: Rudra, i am sure you would be aware of this, just thought of sharing what little i know.

Highlight and lowlight defination does not really work for vast tonal range situation. At least that's what I feel.
At the same time there is no standard rule or practice to follow. No one process is RIGHT or WRONG. It depends greatly on the person doing post processing work.

This was taken during track day at chennai, feb 06. i have already posted it before... anyway i thought it would be appropriate to post it here

My Baleno, the photo was shot by me spending 5 minutes. Later Rudra spent hours and hours fixing it up in Photoshop. The result is magic.

That reminds me of a old cartoon I had seen. An ant is seen sitting on a dead tiger, and it is telling a passing by deer, "Yeah, it was a joint effort, me and a king cobra".:)

Ok, one more...

My Raw Image

By the way, which designs you're talking about? Car modding? If it's that then the answer is: I dont really have enough knowledge about car designing.
