How good our Hindi music is? Discuss copies and originals here

Just saw this old thread.

Well - people like RD did lift music/tunes but they also composed some absolutely incredible original stuff (obviously raga based). Songs like Raina Beeti Jaye & Beeti Na Bitayi Raina by RD and Din Dhal Jaye & Tere Mere Sapne Ab by SD are examples of quality music that has stood the test of time (and 'original').
I don't know about the situation today because I rarely to the new Hindi music but from what little I have heard there is not much of that type or quality of original melodies.
