Re: What does your office desk/workstation look like?

Well I would have preferred my first post on Team-BHP to be about automobiles but since I love computers just as much, here goes:
This is my setup at home where I do spend a considerable amount of time working and playing.

What does your office desk/workstation look like?-image.jpeg

Being a postgraduate in cardiology, most of the time I'm on my feet, in the wards of our hospital. Now, being an exam going student, I've been relieved from my ward duties and hence this is my desk right now. Just a few books, my fav. C63AMG wallpaper for motivation and an never ending cups of coffee which is my fuel.

Looks totally cool..!! Superbly set up. Hopefully it has a good surround sound system as well?

In my previous employment, there were cubicles but the partitions were quite low! I remember using a fake plastic plant so that I wouldn't have to constantly have to look at the person in the next cubicle out of the corner of my eye. Trust me, it is really draining!
I know it's not the same as having a private space all to oneself, but two words for you anyway: 'Privacy Filters'. I can now sit right in the middle of a melee and be sure nobody's peeping into my laptop

My work floor fortunately has a lot of open space with sitting implements (including a few recliners), so I can pretty much work from whatever spot suits my fancy on a given day. Seamless WiFi means no logging in/out of networks too. Couldn't ask for much more.

That's probably because he spends 80% of his time reading (books).

Nice to see a dual-screen setup. I've been using one since 3 years and absolutely love it. Can't go back to a single screen.

Re: What does your office desk/workstation look like?

Really liked this topic. My input below:

I have what is probably the worst looking desk here and one that will be most artificial in its need!

I don't need it at all for my work - apart from a small table and chair. But I always wanted a whole office and a library for myself. So I rented it. This one is a big basement below an outlet run by my mom. It was going quite cheap. I cant describe the feeling I get sitting there everyday having one huge floor to myself. So much so, I hate Sundays! This was one of my life dreams that I fulfilled for myself- one item ticked.
I need to invest some time and also find time to make my office/desk look better

The screen is what I work on and I use the laptop to monitor my mom's outlet. The black landline phone serves the purpose of irritating my wife (free outgoing by Airtel) and the white phone is an intercom used to trouble the sales boys at the outlet for all and sundry tasks.

I don't think you will ever see a more 'messier' desk place than mine!

Re: What does your office desk/workstation look like?

You ain't seen messy till you see my desk. A lot of junk accumulated since 2009, when we moved to these premises. Everything from a small laser printer, landline, pouches holding my electronic gear, second monitor, keyboard, notebook, wireless mouse, stationery carousel, visiting cards in Britannia cheese boxes, green tea can, water bottle, technical magazines subscribed to and still to be opened, a beautiful 3-D Ganesha cut out from a colleague's wedding invitation card, the list is endless. I don't dare show you the long table that's behind my chair. It's overflowing with technical charts, reports, etc.

Change is the only constant. Hence my desks keep changing over time.

My first desk/play area. Custom made glass pieces mounted on wall as per my chair height and eye level. Simple and space effective solution.

Desk made after planning in SketchUp. Made to fit 21' iMac. The slot in it ensures the iMac sits flush with the table top.

Some improvements. Added a pen holder, another shelf at top housing some Rubik's cubes and a happy meal toy

This is the real work station. Used an old TV and attached it to Raspberry Pi when I used to tinker with Raspberry Pi and make mini projects.

Also used to run dual monitor setup when raspberry Pi didn't need a display.

Pic is from before I got a docking port for my laptop. The docking port feeds the two screens now.

Yes, a gift from a dear friend. Beloved Moderator Rtech gave me this tyre paperweight in 2005 that I still use:
