Yes! Part of the AIWA NSX-999 system. Circa ~1998.

1800W PMPO was the selling point at the time (apologies to Navin and other ICE gurus). Bought for Rs. 26,000 at the time from Heera Panna.

Funnily, I had 1 such system. Then, many years later (circa 2005) BHPian Revvmaster listed his for sale on our Classifieds. I picked it up for Rs. ~3-5k

Nothing works on the systems anymore, except the amp and speakers - which if fine for my use, as I route my computer audio through it.

Bonus: The set I bought from Revvmaster has a Ferrari Testarossa dinky car stuck inside the speaker, but I can't manage to get it out!

That is around the time my dad bought it for me as a gift. I was still not 18 then. He bought it used from a known friend, who bought an updated model of the Aiwa (which could play VCD). 3 months old for 18k, which was a lot of money then, but I guess I used it well for over 16 years.

The system had a very unique ability (at least then it was). It could sense when the song gets over if you are forwarding, even on a Cassette, and used to stop forwarding as soon as it senses a new song.

Those were the days.

This is a brilliant thread @bluevolt. Thank you for initiating this! Always interesting to know more about the lives of our fellow bhpians.

Re: What does your office desk/workstation look like?

Well not sure this qualifies as an office desk/workstation. I work as a chemical process development specialist in my family owned factory. As a result i spend a LOT of time (roughly 90% of my working hours) on the shop floor. Attaching a few images of the shop floor.

I have also attached an image of the place where i spend the remaining 10% of time. Its a bit cluttered as of now as the plant is undergoing major renovations.

This is the sad looking un-distracted corner where I settle to see my follow-ups. The window to the outside world is only through internet.

Since yesterday I have taken up on myself to make it more presentable/cheer able for weak people who come to visit me.

Hermano, your workspace pic gives vital clues about the car manufacturer you work for, while your public profile says otherwise. Switched jobs in the interim?

May be the most boring work space on this thread .

Tupperware 500 ml bottle and mouse are missing in this picture.

I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon. This is my work space. There's an examination couch etc on the side, but this is the view as patient walks in...

And there's nothing here to beat the view I used to have in one of my earlier jobs - a panoramic window in front of me, a completely electric/pneumatic automatic seat that can be adjusted eleven ways to Sunday, a view that changes every minute, the scenery in my view ranging from spectacular to boring back to spectacular in the space of half an hour, etc.

Yeah yeah, that was when I was a trucker, driving an 18-wheeler semi in Canada and the USA.

Cheers

Your post gave me the courage to put up my own 'workstation' aka shop floor. Envy all you guys with your plush air conditioned offices. Most of my time is in the field. There is a desk some where which has been completely overtaken by the mobile device.
