Re: R.I.P. Behram Dhabhar

I had the pleasure of meeting with the gentleman over a cup of coffee in Pune, 3 years ago.

A thorough gentleman, indeed! May his soul RIP

It is doubtless a sad day for the automobile fraternity!

Re: R.I.P. Behram Dhabhar

I was very shocked and saddened to hear this terrible news this morning. Although, I was never fortunate enough to meet him, he has guided me/us directly and indirectly through this forum and otherwise.

The CRDe Thar which he was instrumental in developing has resulted in many more people who have joined the off-road scene who (wisely) didn't have the appetite to buy old jeeps and restore them.

Re: R.I.P. Behram Dhabhar

Shocking news about the sudden death of Mr Behram Dabhar this morning, en route to his workplace at Pune. He was seated in the co-passenger seat and was quiet for about 10 minutes. So unusual, the one driving asked him "why are you so quiet today?" Only to realise that Behram had bid goodbye to the world for his eternal bliss.

Behram was responsible for the Premier 118 NE and the Premier S 1, the last version of the Premier Padmini. The Mahindra Thar was also his creation. After his stint with PAL, he joined Mahindra, where he was till very recently. An ace rallyist, he was an avid fan of Fiats and Premiers, owning half a dozen of them. Offroading and 4 X 4's were also his passion.

He was now working for Tata Motors and was Sr General Manager, Quality Control, Commercial Vehicles, at Pune.

A technical authority in automobile engineering and a rare personality he was, who helped one and all with his very well researched technical inputs. There are hundreds of such instances on teambhp, where he used to be a regular. Most of us have had numerous interactions with him here and he has tried to solve whatever mechanical or other glitches his fellow members encountered with their cars, that he came across.

Just recently he had msgd me about his desire to join a long run of vintages with his Fiat during winter 2016, driven from Mumbai to Nagpur, night halts, driving to the countryside and finally back to Mumbai.

He was very much a part of the last winter, Mumbai-Gondal run of vintages. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Very, very sad indeed. He was 59.

Re: R.I.P. Behram Dhabhar

Nothing shocks you like the news of someone who's gone too soon.

Never really got the chance to interact with BD Sir, but the words of encouragement & guidance to all those who did, meant they always returned more knowledgeable than before.

May his soul rest in peace & condolences to his family.

That's really a huge blow to the automotive fraternity in India. May God bestow on his family the strength to cope up with the huge and irreparable loss.

Chatting with Dhabar sir on my 800's ownership thread provided me with some very precious insights about my car. That thread will never be the same again!!

While silently following his posts, I couldn't help but recall the lines by the famous poet- Oliver Goldsmith-

"....While words of learned length and thundering sound
Amazed the gazing rustics ranged around,
And still they gazed, and still the wonder grew
That one small head could carry all he knew.
"

You'll be missed forever, Dear Sir. For me, my R.I.P for you means Return If Possible

He passed away as he lived, in a car. And I am sure he was extremely happy that he was in the passenger seat instead of in the drivers seat where an accident would have been caused had he passed away at the wheel.

God give people who have to pass away such a peaceful ending in a surrounding that they love the most.

"Dear Tharian - (I like your name! )"

Took me a while to get this back in Feb 2015 when he replied to one of my posts on the Himalayan thread.

RIP Sir You were one of a kind.
