What is this

Hi brothers,



i have seen this protusion from the bonnet in many cars (of course in the movies & on channels), cud some1 explain in details what this is & how it works???

Not a normal scoop if it is one... could be a force-fed type... Anyhow that car looks like trying to break some land records.

Well. it's wheels are off the ground in the pic

This would be a Top-Fuel Dragster which are some of the fastest accelarating cars in the world over a quarter mile. Very popular in Drag events in the States, even have their own championship. They put out horsepower in the 1000+ range and are fuelled by a nitrous mixture fuel.

And they almost always have their front wheels in the air when accelarating hard due to aerodynamic effect & relatively no weight over the front wheels.
