although the topic has been discussed earlier at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...tal+punishment it was cut shourt for being person specific & was not able to gather our views.

Of course not..... Some people may argue that death is better than spending your whole life in jail, but then the fact is, most people are afraid of death. That is human nature. People will do anything to live.

So, death is the worst punishment that can be given.

And I feel that crime has to be dealt with harshly. IMHO, RAPE is the WORST crime a human can commit. Even worse than murder. These are some of the cimes that totally deserve a death sentence.....

No. Fry 'em, if they deserve it. Even frying's too good, actually.

PS: The choices on the poll are all mixed up. Abolished should be changed to retained, or the yes and no should be interchanged.

My theory is punishment is not for making wrong doers suffer but for scaring with results of comiting wrong. Any punishment should be such that people are scared even to think about comitting a crime.

With this theory, it is right in having a capital punishment. If people are comitting crimes even after being aware of what the result would be, they very much deserve the punishment.

If there is no capital punishment and life imprison is the highest punishment, crooks, terrorists etc will go on rampage because if they are put in prison, a kidnap is good enough to get them out.

If course we should have capital punishment. In this world, eye-for-an-eye justice is the only thing that works.

some bad vilans are too dangerous to be kept alive, its better to put an end to them
you can lock up some terrorists in jails for life time and then wait for another ic814 to be hijacked to demand freedom for thesebad guys

Yep,
a powerful deterrant is absolutely required in our country. But it should be applied only in cases where not giving death to the guilty can potentially cause more deaths or inhuman acts like brutal gang rapes/ child molestation, killing children, etc..

BTW leaking nations military secrets, corruption in defence deals, etc.. are also in the list since it can potentially put the lives of millions in danger.
