MODs please delete these words, shift me to Mars, and Search for Jupiter!!!

HIya Folks !!!
*Rant Mode on*

Ok, i have a beef here.

Of late i come across a whole lot of posts, where some newbiew has posted something in the wrong section, or something like that and then some of our esteemed colleagues then pipe in with

This shoud be in so and so thread, Mods please shift.

This topic has been discussed here, mods please delete

Mods please do the needful

and so on
and so forth.

Guys firstly there are now a helluva lotta mods floatin about,
i'm sure they know what to do and when.
If ya havta, pm them.

anddddd... These are newbies to a forum.

you aint exactly givin them the warmest welcome in are ya??
It always takes a newbie time to find their feet, some more than others
(hell, i cant find my own feet when i try to dance)

additionally, the last time i used the search function, i really didnt get any useful results and i'm sure newcomers find it harder than me

(i hear its been/being upgraded et all and honestly i havent used it recently)

But basically, can we reduce the self appointed, mod advisors or whatever.
be kind, be welcoming to the newbies, dont scare them away from the forum with bad attitude.

Oh you young whippersnapper, i see you have only 2 posts, Go bugger off and read the rules else i'll bitchslap you with a ruler.

* end rant mode*

basically imo some guys need to get off their rather tall equestrians
and we should give the newcomers a wee bit of slack

Que???

I totally agree...

In some cases requesting the mods to do something is justified.....

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/327059-post6.html

But sometimes, the newbies do get scared away.... it looks really rude.

dear revvhead, first a fall i feel this is a great thread.
i joined tbhp long time back but i seldom posted any replies because i just wanted to see and learn first so that i dont make mistakes but as they say one learns from mistakes. recently wen i logged on i saw a lot of introduce yourself threads by a lot of newbies i think i had already posted around 45 posts by then in proper threads, but since i saw the older guys welcoming everyone i followed suit and welcomed everyone on that day, that day the number of newbies was unusually high so i did welcome a lot of guys. to my amazement the next day when i tried logging in i got a message saying you have been banned for posting too many posts to up the number of posts,i was shocked!! i mean all i needed was 5 more posts to reach the 50 mark which as it is was not my priority, i was really upset and i sent a message via the contact the moderators and then i was allowed to access the site again ..it did discourage me from posting i must admit. since then i think twice before posting and rest assured i will never welcome a newbie, because i have learnt a lot from this forum, and i have put it into use as well as i am buying a new car,so i dont want to be banned from tbhp. the reason i am posting this reply here is to help newbies and also to back revvhead in making the senior members understand that alll good things take some time to get used to.
revvhead, i really appreciate this step taken by you and i support you completely!
Good job mate!
take care!

I disagree!! i think we should vote on capital punishment for your butt in that thread.

But seriously, asking for a reasonable change is cool,
its all the self righteousness that i see in some posts that i disagree with.
Whats life without a few disagreements,
but then again, where's the harm in being pleasant, even if you bring notice to an error , there are ways.

ciao

Revvhead good point on that.

I'm really not sure about this but if say a topic has been discussed before maybe even a long time back. And, if someone opens a new thread on the same topic, do the mods know about all the threads on the forum?

I admit I'm guilty of just giving a link to a similar thread which exists.

I guess people just try to help the mods out since they know how hard it must be for them and the mods sometimes do appreciate it (i think).

The move to write topic is a bit silly as for that the mods will know best where it belongs.

Oh well. back to work.

We definitely don't mind being asked to look at various violations. However, the most effective way to get attention of moderators is to click on the "report bad post" icon below the poster's avatar in that post. That way you won't be offending or scaring any newbies either.

If you just say "mods do something" as part of your post, we won't be aware of it unless one of us reads the thread.

Hi Revvhead,

Firstly, Please do not use SMS / Slang language in your postings. As you are aware, Team-BHP does not permit the use of this language.

I agree. The best thing to do is click the "Report this post to a moderator" button on the left of each post. It will get our attention to the post.

The upgrade is currently going on. And I can guarantee that you will LOVE the new search abilities.

Thanks for the suggestions.

allrightly,
Getting tagged on language is a new one for me!!
And while i think that Vid63457826 is mostly being humourous,
i cant say i really thought that my language would have qualified as slang.

I know for damn sure that i doesnt qualify as sms, so i assume i'm being tagged for slang.

And i'm willing to accept that it may qualify as slang, although i was just putting up a southern drawl to ad some light conversation,

But then i didnt expect arif to be with stupid and moaning about it
Plus i havent really started picking on bad grammar!! Or maybe that should be
the next target??!!??

But this kinda reinforces my point anyway!!

As for the new search function, well thats great news and thanks!!

I wasnt trying to be stupid just saying on the lighter side rather than serious.

Geez revv, what does your title have to do with the context of this thread? Had me scratching my head for a while trying to get the connection. Still don't actually.

I understand your beef, but think about it...if every BHPian put up a new thread every time they didn't like something, this forum's gonna go crazy!

If somebody points out about the thread being in the wrong section, it'll be in fact helping them out to post correctly next time.

And as for welcome, intros etc.. we have a dedicated section for it. The whole forum cant be made into a welcome thread!!!
