Thanks for sharing that, @Wildy. Had forgotten about the group :( !!

Looking at the video reminded me of my longest solo drive in 2005, when I was driving towards YellowStone from Denver side. The road and the valley in this video reminded me of a similar stretch - possibly it was Wind River Reservation. Memories !

"The Incredible String Band" is one of the pioneers of British Folk-Rock movement in mid 1960's. "Maybe Someday" was their debut song recorded 53 years ago which is still sounds incredible. Enjoy and have a great day... Raaj. 🎧

So it's been 3 weeks since the release of Tool's new album, Fear Inoculum. The most noteworthy tracks on the album are:

1) Fear Inoculum (title track)
2) Pneuma
3) Invincible
4) Descending
5) 7empest

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...J-naKnAsvOuclt

All these tracks breach the 10 minute mark quite comfortably, and all of them are absolute masterpieces! Pneuma and Invincible, in particular, are brilliant! It's hard to believe that after a 13 year hiatus, the band is back and it seems like they picked up right where they left off. And can you believe these guy are in their mid 50s and still have a lot left in them?!

I'm still digesting this brilliant album. It's probably their most bold & mature LP yet. 'Pneuma' is one of their best songs ever. But I wouldn't recommend this as a starter album if you're trying to get into Tool. No angry Maynard in this one.

Agreed.

Tool has always been on an upward trajectory since the release of their 1st Album - Undertow.

Lateralus was revolutionary, and 5 years later, with the release of 10,000 Days, it seemed that they just got better and better with each passing album. Personally, I'm of the opinion that they've outdone themselves with Fear Inoculum.

And although careful listens to the tracks of FI will lead one to believe that these compositions share plenty with songs from older albums like Enima and Lateralus, they sound just as fresh as they ought to!

Found this one.
From the members of Creed, minus Scott Stapp and with Myles Kennedy. Alter bridge.

Haven't heard their songs but Myles Kennedy is an amazing vocalist. Chanced upon him first on the Rockstar movie where he appears at the end.

Chanced upon another one. Thanks to Spotify. Powerwolf.

Strong voices, chorus and very melodious.

Couple of them

A very powerful vocal performance indeed! The voice signature seems very close to Hansi. But the textures are different. But I must say, amazingly melodious!

Big fan of the wolves \m/ Amazing power metal with some real tongue-in-cheek humour thrown in as well

Edit: think this belongs in the heavy metal thread

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but here goes...

Recorded a cover video of Porcupine Tree's "Open Car" during lockdown with a bunch of my former bandmates. Everyone sent in their parts and it was put together centrally using Reaper for audio mixing and iMovie for the video. Truly a global effort since the performers are from St Louis, Las Vegas, Sydney, Bangalore and Pune.

Hope you enjoy!

Re: Progressive Rock, Fusion, Avant Garde & Experimental Music Recommendations

Was listening to Rush after long time and realised what an amazing wave ride they have been through.

Classic Rock, moving to keyboards and then back to rock. And each of those releases have that impeccable song writing by Peart.
People mostly talk of classic releases. Any takers for "Test for Echo" and "Vapour Trails" ?

The other band on the list these days is Riverside.

One of the earlier works of Avantasia. Brilliant chorus and riffs.
