Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Ockhi is an active tropical cyclone currently threatening and impacting India, and is the most intense to traverse the Arabian Sea since Cyclone Megh in 2015. The third and strongest storm of the 2017 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Ockhi originated from an area of disturbed weather near Sri Lanka on November 29. Proximity to land initially prevented significant strengthening, favorable conditions as it entered the Arabian Sea allowed it to quickly strengthen on December 1. After causing damages to property and life on Sri Lanka, Ockhi headed towards Lakshadweep and mainland India, with Gujarat likely to be affected at the cyclone's end-stages.

So far, at least 25 fatalities have been caused by Ockhi, with hundreds still missing

The name Ockhi was given by Bangladesh which in Bengali means ‘eye’.

There are several warning making rounds about this cyclone.
Holiday has been declared fro Schools and Colleges due to this. (Offices continue to remain working. As if the cyclone wont affect us. )

What's new is that it's near Mumbai today and heading towards Surat - major financial hubs of Innis India.

Here's another great site. You can move bar at the bottom of the screen to see how the storm will pass over time. It moves north over the sea towards Gujarat but dies down before landfall.

Hopefully the damage will be very limited since the storm does not land on the coast anywhere in India.
