"pure Cinema"

tifosi, I've been watching movies since I can remember. Dad used to take me to the movies every weekend even before I was in kindergarten. And I've been watching a movie everyday since the past 15 years at least. When I die, I'd like to die watching a movie (but not before it ends) :-)

The unspoken chemistry between the two was superb. Most of the time, more was said during the silence than in the dialogues.

Of course, Scarlett was awesome !! drooooll.....

Nosfreak, My Sassy Girl is a korean movie, not japanese. Anyway, it shouldnt matter to us.

Watched it yesterday, it was very funny and touching at the same time.

IS this thread for good movies only???

Cause i watched dhoom2 he other day... Cant find any thread to shout out my frustration and dissappointment...

I mean... I went to see it for the bikes... Though i new it was not centred on bikes as dhoom... But didnt expect it to be this bad...

Hrithik is just as glamourous as he can be... Nothing to complain... Aish trying hard... Bipasha was allright in first, but they ruined it with a double role in second... Abhishek... Was a shadow of his charecter in first movie...

But... The stunts... The head on bike riding as in MI2... Hrithik jumping off the cliff and opening parachute... And abhishek comes and jumps off the cliff without parachute and catches hrithik mid- air...

w12. Woody Allen fan here. :-)

With a few exceptions, most of his (Woody Allen's) movies are an acquired taste. I used to hate them when I was a kid, but I've grown to like his style over time.

I got a DVD of his new one Scoop! starring Scarlett Johansson & Hugh Jackman 2 weeks back. Haven't got down to see it yet.

I had a mad weekend (work!).

This thread has made me revisit all my old favourites :-) On saturday I watched "In the Name of the Father" (Daniel-Day Lewis, Pete Postlethwaite, Emma Thompson). It really is one of the greatest movies I've watched. Set in the Ireland, during the height of the civil-war. About a bombing, and the trial for the (falsely) accused. A great Father-Son movie. And the state of "injustice" shown really makes you squirm. Won a whole lot of oscars when it was released, if I'm not mistaken. It definitely was nominated for a whole lot of categories.

I watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid for with my Dad yesterday. I'd watched it after 5-6 years. Dad is a die-hard fan of classic westerns. Aside from being a great, great western, Butch...Kid is also a great buddy movie.

Weekly update:

Watched reruns of British Gangster movies last week. My faves:

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (Dir: Guy Ritchie; Starring Jason Statham and a lot of Ritchie's regulars)
Snatch (Dir: Guy Ritchie; Starring Jason Statham, Brad Pitt and a lot of Ritchie's regulars)
Layer Cake (Dir: Matthew Vaughn, Starring Daniel Craig, A little of Sienna Miller Mmmmmmmmm...)

The first two are a bit violent though they are comedies, so if you can't stand a bit of violence, please avoid. Layer Cake is also mostly the same, but to a lesser degree.

Own DVD's of both & quite like them, nice movies if you don't mind the violence! Though some people might have trouble understanding Brad Pitt & Company in Snatch!

Anyone like 'The Usual Suspects'? I quite adored it.

The Usual Suspects is up there in my favourite list! And Kaizer Soze is among my favourite movie characters. The way they built up the character and fleshed it out without even showing him (except in the last few minutes) is simply great. I guess you know the Bollywood movie Chocolate is a knock-off of The Usual Suspects. Chocolate did show some creativity in the very end.

I'm also a big fan of Quentin Tarantino and his style (similar to The Usual Suspects). My Tarantino Faves are Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs and of course Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill 1 and 2 are good, but are different from Tarantino's other ones. From Dusk Till Dawn was also good -- the first half that Tarantino directed. The second half was of course Robert Roderiguez having fun in the Director's chair.

Yeah, the Kaizer Soze build-up is quite spine chilling! Love the part when at the end of the movie, he straightens his walk and scurries away with the wry smile on his face, simply genius!
