Does any true-blue mallu here know where I can get hold of the movies of Adoor Gopalakrishnan? I've seen Mathilukal and Nizhalkuthu and was very impressed. I'd like to see more. Are they available on VCD or DVD? (PS: I'd prefer them with subtitles!)

Exquisite Tarantino stuff. Some nice muscle cars in it as well.

Mixed Doubles- Nice movie about a guy who gets inspired to try out swinging, convinces his wife and the consequences it leads to. Hilarious in parts.

Ranvir and Konkana are in great form and Rajat Kapoor directs this one.

Watch it.

Watched a movie called "The Monster" by Life is beautiful fame Robert Benigni, it is a comedy with a simple plot. thoroughly enjoyed it.

definitely worth a watch, movie has some awkward but funny situations, be careful if you are watching it with young ones.

regards
tifosi.

WOW

Thread revived after 27 days.

The title does not sound like a comedy movie, however will watch it if I get the chance.

To make life simple can one of the Mod's close this thread and merge it with 'The Movie Thread'

Unless there is a difference between the two threads which I am not aware of.

This thread deals with "good movies only". Movie thread is about everything.
If you want to discuss "Andheri Raat mein diya tere haath me" you have to use Movie thread, but to discuss Pulp fiction, this thread is better.

Now, you know Fillmore, this thread is about pure cinema only.

Speaking of pure cinema, has anyone seen 'To be or not to be' by the famous 'history of the world' director/actor mel brooks ?

@ movie gurus

Here are some good movies (ones that I have not seen) that I have shortlisted from the 250 best movies of IMDB.

Filtering criteria:
  1. No s** or s** related topics. (very very important)
  2. No horror.
  3. No other (non-english) language films
The list:
  1. Fight Club
  2. Se7en
  3. There Will Be Blood
  4. No Country for Old Men
  5. Reservoir Dogs
  6. The Prestige
  7. The Pianist
  8. Million Dollar Baby
  9. Children of Men
  10. Oldboy
Reason being I plan to go movie shopping to form my now fledgling movie collection. Anything that you would like to add\remove to this list?

Don't know where you can get his old titles - never remember seeing them in any DVD shop.

But, I saw his latest movie (Naalu Pennungal - Four Women) on DVD (pirated at that). Given the kind of interest (or lack of it actually) in his movies within the normal film-watching crowd, I never thought I would see the day when his movies would be pirated.

Maybe Nandita Das was one reason for the interest in this movie.

You should look out for Vidheyan (The Servile) - nice movie, based on a Kannada novel (if I am right).

every movie will have some s** related stuff in it.

this list is nice, has all my favourites. I have'nt seen the prestige, because i didnt think the subject would be interesting. time to have another look.

would you like to add?
1. letters from iwo jima and Flags of our fathers?
loved the idea of showing the same war from opposite view points. makes you realise the futility of conflict and war.

2. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
jim carrey in a serious role, IMO he did well. slightly mushy movie.

3. the Host(korean) AKA Gwoemul
cult movie. science fiction, but also symbolic. and technically very good too.couldnt find any fault with it.

4. pulp fiction
tarantino has'nt gone overboard. nice watch.
