Portable air-coolers

Just Came Across this Portable Air Conditioner.
Just fill 600ml of water and connect it to any USB Port to enjoy Cool Air.
They claim the water tank lasts upto 8 hours.
Does it really work as intended?

This sounds more like an air cooler than an conditioner. I say this since there is water involved which is expected to be used for cooling.

The link shared also mentiones it as an air cooler. A small fan with a tray of water in front of it would give similar results.

If there is no other option, yes, it helps a little bit. In my Dad's office, there was an area without air-conditioning and we used to sometimes sit there. Had gotten an air-cooler like this. Definitely kept us more comfortable, but in no way comparable to an air-conditioner. 20 years up and the damn thing still works. We've moved it to our Deolali home.

Pro tip: Mix a lot of ice along with water in the tank. Makes a difference.

This is just one of the generic usb air coolers rebranded and marketed.
Plenty of them available on AliExpress (exact same models) for about 20$.
Rest assured that no air conditioner company is angry with them as per their claims.

Re: Portable air-coolers

For those who have never used an air cooler, the biggest irritant is constant loud whirring noise of the fan. It's OK to use an air cooler in the bedroom, but it is not suitable for a home office.
