Check how your city has fared

Can you guess on what basis the following cities have been ranked: (Guess before you scroll down!)1 Delhi 2.77%2 Bangalore0.95%3 Chennai 0.89%4 Calcutta 0.59%5 Pune 0.48%6 Mumbai 0.48%7 Hyderaba 0.48%8 Madurai 0.44%9 Jaipur 0.39%10 Ahmedab 0.30%11 Viskhapa 0.29%12 Nagpur 0.27%13 Coimbato 0.26%14 Ludhiana 0.22%15 Indore 0.22%16 Vadodara0.20%17 Surat 0.20%18 Cochin 0.19%.........................This is ranking of cities based on traffic accident fatalities (Based on 98 figures, as it is percentage, not much would have changed. After few hours of 'googling' could not find a ready made statistic, had to rely on a paper published by a IIT(D) professor (http://web.iitd.ac.in/~tripp/publications/paper/safety/aitd02.PDF). Compared to other countries traffic data available on web for India is poor.)Some interesting observationselhi topping the chart is not a major surprise. But do you know Delhi traffic police collect Rs. 50 Cr. per year by issuing challans. But look at Bangalore right at the second place. Can you list the major reasons for this? Mumbai not among the bad 5. Very very surprising. I guess it is because of traffic sense among the Mumbaikars and also effective policing. Do you agree? 3 TN cities - Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai in top 15! Incidentaly DaimChrys sells lot of cars here!Wanna add more....?
