Is it verified and reliable?

Saw a lot of kids on the road yesterday with Save Kodagu boards, but not sure how effective the funds will be managed. I did a couple of online searches and didn't get any confidence inspiring results either.

Re: August 2018 Kerala floods! Help Kerala

Hope things get to normal for Kerala folks as soon as possible. I tried donating relief material through Amazon yesterday but could not bring myself to trust the entire process. Reason being, the sellers were newly launched just for this purpose and this was true for almost all the NGOs. Not sure if some one has found a way out to earn some cash in the name of helping people.

PayTM contributions to CMDRF is more trustworthy IMO, or one can directly contribute to CMDRF online - which also gives the benefit of 100% tax benefits for the amount paid.

I am confused between sending items via Amazon or contributing to CMDRF. Want to send specific items for children but not sure if it will be more effective than contributing to CMDRF.

Can someone help me make a decision?

Plenty of supplies are being gathered at various collection points. I guess contributing to the CMDRF could be considered. These funds are regularly audited by agencies and subject to RTI and stuff. Would help with infrastructure reconstruction and financial aids from the government's side. You get the 80G benefit too.

Options:
1. Donate to CMDRF via bank transfer/PayTM
2.Check for relief material collection centers in Pune (Get in touch with someone from Kerala, they will know better)
3. If you want to donate specific items to children - There are few TBHPians posting in this thread who visits relief centers. You may send them money to buy and supply.

I have donated some pads and blankets yesterday. The collection is open till tmrw when they intend to ship all collected items to Kerala.

Edit: I also believe the most effective means would be through CMDRF.

Re: August 2018 Kerala floods! Help Kerala

For those mobilising relief items from outside Kerala, Thanks a ton first of all!

Since water has receded from a majority of the areas, people will be now beginning to go back to their houses which is in a mess due to the silt deposits, insects, reptiles and even carcasses of domestic animals. As per Trivandrum (One of the few relatively unaffected districts and where collection and logistics of relief materials are being done in full swing) District Collector, the main requirement now is on:

-cleaning agents (Bleaching powder, disinfectants..)
-personal protection (Gloves, Gumboots..)
-brooms, mops, scrubbers
-mosquito coils/repellants
-candles, Match boxes
-clothes, footwears

Thanks again for supporting.

Re: August 2018 Kerala floods! Help Kerala

Those from Bangalore and not able to find any way to transport supplies to Kerala can sync up / deposit supplies at Cessna business park, Kadubeesinahalli. Outer ring road.

There is a collection drive run by ex army guys, they are collecting supplies from here, sending it over to segregation center in army campus near MG road and then transporting it to Kerala.

Collection point in Kadubeesinahalli will be up for atleast 2 days (and may go on for this whole week).

Location

Come over to backside of the building to find signboard for the place.
