A man who put nation first, party second and self third, Vajpayee is a true leader. He delivered an unforgettable speech in Lok Sabha

is one of the best ever speeches by Atal Behari Vajpayee!

Re: R.I.P. Atal Bihari Vajpayee - The founder of the Golden Quadrilateral

One fact which is not very popular about A B Vajpayee's term:
India posted current account surplus in the last two fiscals of his tenure. I cant remember the exact amount, but it was a significant amount.
Since 1951, the only other time india had a current account surplus was in 1975-1976 & 1976-1977; the after effects of emergency

After the Kargil episode, the concept of issuing identity cards to people in border areas was thought abot, which later took the form of Aadhar Card. The foundation was laid in 2001.

Not really, it may have been the trigger for action but the idea is much older and has nothing to do with the political class. My professor says it came from a regulatory agency and he worked on it from inception, naturally political operators took credit for it.
