Two of my all time favourite podcasts which I would strongly recommend to anyone are 'Planet Money' and 'Reply All'. Love Freakonomics Radio also. I've been wanting to listen to some good Indian podcasts and will definitely check out those recommended above. Thanks for the reccos.

The Indicator by Planet Money is another podcast which a listener of Planet Money would enjoy.

Absolutely true. But in my personal experience while I enjoy almost all the episodes of Planet Money, I only enjoy few of the Indicator. But the Indicator is also one on my regular playlist.

Re: The Podcast Thread

There's a plethora of podcasts nowadays - seems like it is the new avataar of blogs a decade ago.

The only podcast series I really got hooked on was Amit Varma's The Seen and the Unseen. Some of his recent episodes are really good and eye opening - farmers market, vaccine production, (life of a) muslim in India, and so on. His podcasts depend mainly on the guest invited on the podcast. A lot of his episodes are on very different topics - e.g. Krish Ashok's food (book) and so on.

Currently waiting to hear the latest on Ram Gopal Verma's (making of) Satya movie and how it changed the Bollywood scene.

Re: The Podcast Thread

I use Apple Podcasts app. Below are the ones that I have liked.

1. Serial
2. Bear Brook
3. Death in Ice Valley
4. Deepmind: The Podcast

The first three are in the genre of unsolved crime. The last one is about latest work in AI from the company Deepmind.

Re: The Podcast Thread

No one can afford to miss this one.

Chris Harris and Andreas Preuninger.

Something for bhpians to enjoy over the weekend.

Only complaint is that it is too short. We could go on hours listening to these two talking about Porsches.

The Podcasts Thread

I have recently started listening to podcasts, mainly while I am on an evening walk. I also intend to listen to them while driving alone. The ones that I have finished are:

1- 22 Yarns by Gaurav Kapur on Spotify

These are about 30 interviews, one hour or so each. Gaurav Kapur is fantastic as a host, and the celebrity invites are all from the cricketing world but not limited to players. Historians, broadcasters, commentators etc. Excellent podcast.

2- The Stories of Mahabharata by Sudipta Bhawmik on Google Podcasts.

Excellent narration of Mahabharata that I listen to along with my 10-year-old. We have done about 7-8 episodes (20 minutes each) and loving every second of it.

Which ones have you enjoyed?

  • Daniel and Jorge Explain the Universe
  • Evolution Talk by Rick Coste
  • The Science of Everything Podcast by James Fodor
  • Naval

Re: The Podcast Thread

I have recently taken to Podcasts and listen to following Podcasts often (usually commuting)
Finshots
Musafir Stories
Signal Daily
Morgan Housel podcast
TRS and Beer Biceps
F1 Nation, The Race and Beyond the grid

I want to ask what App everyone uses and why. I know Spotify is most popular, but is there any other app I can use which is Ad-free? I use Google Podcast but I don't like it's interface and usability. Particularly, I want multiple playlists for my different interests.
Any suggestions?
