Re: The Bicycles thread

A little

But I need a bit of advice. I have the following options before cycles get expensive.

2012 Schwinn Sporterra Sport (22K + 2k for shipping) (Size L is out of stock in Delhi/NCR, will be getting it shipped from Bangalore or Hyderabad)

2011 GT Traffic 3.0 (18.5K) (Available in Delhi)

2012 Mongoose Crossway 250 (16.5K) (Available in Delhi)

Have ridden all three, the Schwinn (Size M) felt the best and was the lightest of the lot. Is she worth it at 24k with only a stand ?? or should I settle for the GT or Mongoose ?

Re: The Bicycles thread

Picked up a Vredestein tire from The Bike Affair - Home.

Rs 1,600.

Its a slightly narrow tire compared to the Kenda.
Had a nice ride back home.

Lighter tire and wallet.

btw, Krishna was of the opinion that my over inflating the tire was the reason for shortened life.
The Kenda had a max limit of 85. I usually filled it upto 80.
Maybe a lil more occasionally.
This stretches the tire to the max and when it impacts a stone or pothole, the threads give up.

Whats your height? The sizing depends on that. Size M is generally for 168-178cm.
I had a Schwinn Sporterra base model in 2010 and was quite reliable. Rode to Goa too. Can go for it.

I keep the pressure between 65 to 75 most of the times and no one whom I ride with regularly (20+ people) had encountered this, though on different bikes/tires. Even the seasoned mechanic who's been dealing with imported bikes for many years now felt that it was a rare occurrence and advised me to seek replacement.

To have the same problem with same brand of tires in 3 instances makes a strong case of manufacturing defect. Track and trail has already responded to my mail, will keep you posted on the development.

Re: The Bicycles thread

This thread has really got me hooked. The last cycle I had was Flying Pigeon.

Few questions:

a) Where do I find used Scotts, Treks etc. How much do they go for?

b) Is there any group in Mumbai?

A hybrid cycle owner is just a roadie whose afraid of committing (big sums) to a road bike. Come to the light my friend. Don't fight it.

Both my kids made their choice of bicycles, and hurry I found it's in their Gene to obviously look for Jeep in everything.

There you go my 2nd one selected his dual suspension Jeep while my first one has chosen a Razor BMX bike.

I am 185cm & weigh around 90kg.

As per the ebicycles.com size sheet, the seat tube should be 24 inches in length, does it include both the tube and saddle post or just the seat tube ?

You will need L sized frame if going for Schwinn or lets say all brands from Track n Trail. Hurry up the purchase before existing stocks run out and more expensive ones come in.

Re: The Bicycles thread

Trammway baba, you CANNOT love your kids and buy them a full-sus bike. Honestly unless its a performance full sus (i.e well over $1500 ++) with air suspensions and such like - its too heavy and not the right thing.

Re: The Bicycles thread

So Track and Trail have already upped their prices by 15-20% on pre-budget models

Now, I'm in a fix. I was suppose to buy 2012 Schwinn Sportsterra at 18.xxk but now thats shot upto 21.5k. So the options I have now are:

2012 Schwinn Sportsterra or GT 2011 Transeo vs Scott 60.

Hows GT? Anyone has inputs on that?

Edit: Does Schwinn come with lifetime warranty?

Re: The Bicycles thread

Fight for the pre-budget inventory. These fellows are just skimming money from us by selling pre-budget inventory at higher prices.
