Re: The Bicycles thread

Hey all, i was watching this thread for years. Being inspired from here started cycling and continuing since two years! The only aim when i started was to loose some body weight which was 98kg. At first brought a schwinn frontier comp! Rode it regularly for more than 1.5 years. The result was lost a whopping 17kgs. Now every day i ride almost 35-40 kms. Recently sold-off my schwinn and brought a new trek 4300. Last sunday(07/10/2012) Did my first century ride (135kms) Now i am training for a brevet being held at cochin next january.

For those who want to shed some pounds enjoying nature and go green a bicycle is your option.

Here are the pictures of my previous and current rides!

Re: The Bicycles thread

1,000km a month, for the last 8 years = 96,000km.

Weight loss from 95kgs to 65kgs.

Stopped smoking, completely gave up alcohol, and I watch what I eat. Cycling has been a life saver for me.

Got a Montra Jazza yesterday. Plan to use it for daily commute ( office is 20 km ride so probably will take some time ) and daily errands. Any Pune t-bhpians into cycling

pm arpandiv about the latter. not the Atom afAIk. These are decent kaam chalau bikes. Not the bikes that you will enjoy so much that you will want to ride everyday. http://freerider.in/drupal/General/C...n#BuyingAdvice

Re: The Bicycles thread

Hi Guys,

I am planning to pick up a cycle pretty soon. Just confused among 3 bikes:

Axis Sport 40/Axis Sport 20 and Hercules Ryders 110
And there is btwin Rockrider 5.0 Available for a similar range,

Which one would be the best bet among these. Any other suggestions for cycles on this side of 15K ?

You specifically want an MTB? if you wish to use it more in the city then you can even go for a hybrid. Schwinn Sport Terra is a killer bike. I am not a great fan of the BTwin bikes (no offence to BTwin bike owners here) but since their gears are not as top notched as other bikes in the same price range

what is your budget?

Thanks Shantanu,

My budget MAX is 15 K. So dont think I can go anywhere near a Schwinn :( Might look at upgrading once I get a hang of things and start riding regularly. Would ideally love to get a Hybrid, but dont think I would get anything good given the budget.

Re: The Bicycles thread

Schwinn Sporterra is about 26K now. I have one and its worth it. If you are going offroad, get an MTB else Hybrids work well.

Is anyone using a wall hanger for bikes?

Thanks Mail4ajo,

I did a test ride of sporterra, its awesome. It kind of made me lean towards the hybrid bikes. Looking for new or used bikes which would fall in the budget range.

Also one quick question, I spoke with a few dealers (they were mostly dealers of Indian brands) They said that the Hybrid ones are no good, as you face a lot of issues with the wear of the tyres and grip of the tyres, also issues with the Rims bending... Are any of these true ?

Does Raleigh make any hybrid bikes? I tried looking on the net, but couldnt find much information.
