Particularly if they're subjected to lewd comments - while cycling down the roads.

Come on you lowlife, that roadie she is riding is worth much more than the battered decade old HH Splendour you're riding.

Find anything funny in the gear she is wearing? Oh- you find the fact that she is wearing a helmet while riding a cycle to be - funny?

Come on, get a life. But, as you're a lowlife anyway, you don't really have a life anyway I suppose.

Poona is no longer that civilized city it used to be. Lowlifes from the neighbouring districts have creeped in- riding battered, two decade old 100cc bikes.

Jokes aside, there were a couple of high speed situations that I came across today - that could've been handled better - if my Bianchi Via Nirone had ABS.

Maybe just for the placebo effect- but I just think that bicycles must come with ABS.

@fintail - sorry to hear about your experience, I think the easy money people have made over these years via selling property has lead to a proliferation of egoistic and bad behaviour. My 2 cents, confronting such people is the best option , if you are in company of the woman cyclist make sure you confront them rather than letting it slip

These egoistic illiterates just piss me off- particularly when the badly maintained two decade old HH Splendour moves out of their control and kisses the bumper of our cars.

Happened to a friend once. A Bullet (with a 14 something lowlife attempting to ride it) kissed his Mercedes Benz W212.

Fearing the usual dadagiri and assorted nonsense, he chose not to do anything.

Got 3 mm puncture resistant semi slicks from GRL Tires, with inbuilt kevlar lining, and a set of tubes as well.

Will wait till the rains are done and roads repaired before putting then on.

Meanwhile, ninja, prabuddha mp417, other experts here, how does the FORMAT CON 10 look ?

Remember, I am comparing it to everything that's available under 25k here in India - MTB's, Hybrids, and Roadies.

Would prefer technical inputs please, having gotten the "never buy a cheap roadie" disclaimer out of the way first off.

Specifically, how does it compare to the Suncross Racer Star at 15k and Montra Unplugged 1.0 at 23k.

The Fomas and Raleigh are not available anymore.

This one is at 17k. I've been Googling and some Bangladeshi forums have some pretty nice things to say about it.

Facing rear gear issue again.

The gears are not shifting as expected and missing one gear
e.g.
1. When I change the rear from 5 to 6, it jumps to 7.
2. When I change the rear from 7 to 6, it jumps to 5.

Issue is observed between 5, 6 and 7.

Can this be fixed by simple DIY or need to visit the shop?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's a simple matter of tuning the rear derailleur properly. This video should be helpful.

I recently picked up a used Firefox after almost a decade of being away from bicycles (For exercise purpose: Hopefully!). It had a similar problem and was easily fixed the DIY way. Mostly, some patience, a screwdriver and some time is all it takes.

Got delivery of the cycle I ordered for my daughter from Snapdeal a couple of days back, and assembled it last evening. Very nicely packed, everything in its place. The gears are all Shimano - shifters (friction for the front, and index for the rear), front and rear derailers, rear group set. 21 speed. Shifts very nicely (touch wood), with just some minor adjustment of cable tension. I actually find the friction shifting kat-kat-kat pretty nice to use, contrary to what I used to think. And you can actually fine tune the placement of the chain on the cogs on the fly with your wrist.

The T stem bottom cut away wedge had a problem, as it was facing towards the side and not facing front. So even with the stem all the way down, the stem was rocking back and forth and not tightening up. We exchanged it for the older one from my bike (which I recently exchanged for a longer one). Which solved the stem play issue. But the front end is still a bit funny, twitchy. Can't leave the hands confidently. Think there could be a issue so will take the bike to a local mechanic I go to for small stuff, also get a ring frame lock installed.

Bike fits my daughter perfectly, though just about, with the seat in the lowest position. Which is good, because I was worried ordering online not knowing the actual size, and concerned that it might be too small (she's outgrown her old bike, hence the new one).

Even I am looking for a descent bike for my home minister.

After watching me spending hours on the on going Tour de France (TV, T-BHP) , finally she asked if she can try cycling. I was like "yeahhh why not"

My Montra is of medium frame and not suitable for her. I am looking for a bike which is easy to ride (may be specifically designed for ladies). Nothing too fancy.
