Men's cars & Women's cars!

Hi Team,

Cars have always been big conversation hoggers from a long time and they would continue to be.... yeah thanks to many like us.

It’s quite peculiar when people get to classify cars into "Oh that’s a Man’s car for sure!" Its not very sexist but it is natural (Or so we would like to put it gently!). So I have decided to start this thread to know this interesting classification of MEN and the WOMEN cars…

Mind you this is not stereotyping a car or any team member, anybody who thinks contrary of any views posted can always back their “car gender” up by a healthy discussion.

So here goes to start with:

Mini Cooper : Surely Female, however if supped up definitely a Man.
Scorpio : Surely a MAN.
Honda CRV: FEMALE but MEN can drive it!
SAFARI: It’s a MAN.
Corvette Z06: Definitely a MAN.
Alto: It’s a Female.

Please add to this…. I am sure it’s going to get interesting……!!

I don't think there is anything manly or womenish about the car. Most of the things are turning into UNISEX; what's the point of having this categorization.

Your posting reminds me of "Fair & Lovely - Men" and other sun protection creams which untill recently use to come only in one variety. One of the competetor started this Men and Women stuff there and now all of them have these Men variety.

It's basically branding exercise and nothing else. So it's true for car. What really maters is how good a driver is whether male or female. If driver is good, vehicle can get it dues but it's not true otherwise.

Technically you are right nispatel, but, you can't help but associate some cars with women and others with men. Ofcourse, each one's interpretation would be slightly different!

For me:
Chick cars:
- BMW Z3
- Porsche Boxster, 1st generation.
- Toyota MRS
- Yellow Maruti Zen old gen. Heck, basically any yellow car!!
- New Zen Estilo
- Mazda Miata
- Mercedes M class
- Honda CRX Del Sol

I see lot of expections here. For example go to IT carridor of Banglore and invariably you will come across ladies driving Bolero (yes, it's Bolero and not Baleno) and Scorpio and and most Alto being driven by man. May be one can term it "attraction of the opposite sex"!

OOps, how could I forget the Swift. Although many would term it a chick car, I really couldn't care less, I love it! Hence, proving that...

You guys are really sexist, using terms like chicks and all. Please be respectful and refer to them as Babes.

P.S. I think the Aveo makes a nice ladies car. It's got nice feminine lines.

Scorpio : Surely a MAN.
Suprisingly mahindra has found that there is demand for the scorpio from the fairer sex as well and they plan to add a feminine touch to the scorpio right from the ads, dealership experience and the scorpio itself.

I think There is no thing as a Women's Car or Man's Car..
I think its the way something is presented to you..

Imagine you I give you a fully modded Beetle..will you still call it a Women's Car....
Now I give you a Barbie Pink Hummer..Will you call it a Man's Car??

But yes mostly women choose a car that has good looks, easy to drive and maintain...and we know that small hatches have all these qualities...

By the way its your decision....

Since all gents above have listed their daddu aur daadi cars ,I thought I should list those cars that are in-between, with no reproductive identity, that is nothing up or inside, or more clearly chakkas, or .. (I'm stopping the descriptions here before Google lists TBhp as an adult site):

1. Ambassador: definitely Bobbitized over the decades. Darwin would have rotated in his grave
2. Padmini: initially female, suffered fatal decline in estrogen over the decades. Also developed osteoporosis.
3. M800: Birth defect. No gender from the start
4. New Mahindra "jeeps": Transsexual - masquerading as the other gender; internally female
5. Santro: Sex-change operation. Currently bordering on the feminine side

I better stop now before I become an authority on this topic.
