Not sure if there are such cases in ODI
Javed Miandad returned to Pakistan side after 3 years to play in 96 WC, there was news that Sri Lanka wanted to call back Chaminda Vaas to play in 2011 WC finals.

West Indies are well and truly on top against Australia, who have been reduced to 40/4. Their current ODI ranking doesn't reflect their performance in this WC so far. At the moment they look like sure shot contenders for SF spot.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Just switched on the TV and what a
Australia on the mat with half of their side back in the pavilion and they seem to be on a mini recovery of sorts with Steve Smith and Alex Carey playing themselves in.
West Indies seem to be on a roll, haven't seen the Aussies like this in a long time

I just hope windies have it in them to go the last mile and finish on top in this game.

Hats off to the SA selectors for taking that call! The main issue was ABD picking & choosing his tournaments, unfortunately for us he chose to play the test series against us in SA.
If this happened in India, no guesses as to what would have happened.

Australia proving why they're such a top side, now heading towards 290-300. Steve Smith and Coulter-Nile played amazing knocks. What remains to be seen is if West Indies have the firepower and consistency in their batting to win this game.

Edit: Australia 288 all out!

Great fightback by aussies. WI lost the plot once short ball stopped working for them. Coulter Nile deserved a century. Gonna be Gayle storm otherwise WI may struggle to chase this. Russell was already off the field due to his body breaking again, no surprises there.

Finally, an erring umpire has the last laugh against Chris Gayle. The umpire in question had mis-judged two previous dismissals, how credible can he be if the decision is left to him.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

The quality of umpiring has been very poor today, both the field umpires are being exposed in a World Cup match. The number of reviews retained in today's match will be a world record.

This might be yet another Aussie victory, West Indies batsmen not applying themselves. 37 runs from 4 overs needed and just 2 wickets remaining.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Wonderful match...WI on top in the first half od the first innings and Coulternile and Smith got back Australia with a respectable total. Australia on top in the beginning but Holder and couple of other got back WI to a position of strength. Then WI gave away the match with some rash shots.

While few players from both sides played well, Umpiring was really bad. 2 reviews each of both umpires were overturned/retained. And the ball before the wicket of Gayle was a no ball that wasn't called!

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

The match was there to be won for WI when Holder & Russell were together, had they played sensibly & smartly! Russell only knows 1 way to play & his dismissal was a setback as apart from Starc & Cummins nobody else was threatening. Braithwaite hasn't done much after those 4 sixes he hit of Stokes in the T20 World Cup many years ago. There's a good case for Kemar Roach to be included in place of him as pointed by Holding during commentary.

Not a single match in this world cup where the team has chased above 250 successfully. Getting a feeling of 90s cricket. Bowlers are back with a bang.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

After every Aussie match, I am getting more convinced that they must be the favorite to win the cup this time. I am sure that they will be one of the teams in semis and if they win semis, they will be hard to beat in the final. When was the last time they lost a major final? Even if they have lost one or two, I think their win percentage in the major finals will be close to 95?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

I am very pleased with the Australian team are playing together professionally by willing to look beyond personal issues. It is not easy for Steven Smith and Warner to play with the same team members when they were banned and tried to pull others down with them (the bowlers especially Starc who was miffed when asked if they knew about the plan). And it is not easy for someone who in a his last previous match was Captain of the team and now after being humbled by the ban to come play with the same intensity as before. A lot of our sub-continental teams have to learn..If they have any issues it does not show up except maybe when they are celebrating a wicket together. (maybe I am seeing too much into it)

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

England going great at 150+ in 24 odd overs, looks like they are heading for a 350+ score. Will it be a big win for England or will Bangladesh bounce back in the last 25 overs of the English inning and then themselves bat well later ?
