Yeah, in hindsight they really should have scheduled 2 matches a day for the group stage. Greedy for ad revenues, I guess they're going to lose more this way with washed out matches. The group stage is going on for way too long.

I think we underestimated BCCI's money power - Dhawan stays in England and Pant joins the team - have & eat the cake too.

Money has got nothing to do with it, unless you are talking of affording an extra player on tour. Australia is doing the same with Stoinis & Mitch Marsh.

India is also carrying 3 seamers as backup and net bowlers along with the squad.

Well the general discussion was either Dhawan flies back & his substitute takes his place, or Dhawan stays there with no replacement. Then it is out-of-box thinking by BCCI to have Dhawan & his substitute together.

Aren't Stonis & Mitch already in Aus World cup squad? How they are extra?

Isn't Cricket famous for its glorious uncertainties? Weather has its part too.

Nopes. Stoinis is injured and Mitch has been called up to travel with the team as a back up without being a legal situation. Just like Pant.

Edit: Pant and Mitch can play ONLY if Dhawan and Stoinis are replaced formally by ICC approval. They cannot come back later, unless there is another injury and then they are the replacements.

I think Khaleel is the only one remaining, the other 2 have flown back to India.

Regarding, Dhawan, it seems team management is hopeful of him getting fit by the Bangladesh or Sri Lanka game next month!

223/2 at the end of 34th over to 307 all out at the end of 49 overs! That's some collapse. What looked like a formidable 350-375 has ended up as a chaseable 308. Amir bowled so well to restrict the opposition to such a total. Will be interesting to see if Aussies can defend this

The Pakis imploded as well and have lost by 40 runs. The Aussies bowled better than they did against India. It is nice to support the Aussies for a change.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

It was drizzling here in Nottingham today since early morning but has stopped since 30 mins. Couple of my friends who have went to stadium have mentioned that the covers are off but the ground has some wet patches which is being worked upon.

There is no rain predicted from 11 until 2 pm. I doubt if we can have a complete match today.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

3 matches already cancelled due to rain and I'm sure there are going to be more. Still it is early in the World Cup; but it wouldn't be fair if a must-win game for a particular team gets cancelled due to rain. Hopefully the rest of the World Cup has o more rain cancellations and all the teams get an equal chance.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Looks like India Vs New Zealand game will be washed out due to rain!
I was hoping for at least a shortened match, maybe 20 overs ? Keeping fingers crossed for a miracle.

So, India and New Zealand maintain their no-loss record so far!

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

How's the weather in Manchester now? I do hope India vs Pakistan match doesn't get abandoned. It will be a huge loss for billions of fans. Moreover we will have to share points with Pakistan, I don't wish to give them a single point.

Hope they find Dhoni's Balidan badge and create a big hue and cry? All the best ICC.
