Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

MSD to retire at the end of WC2019?
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/70054961.cms
It would be a nice send-off for MSD and he can retire on a high if we win the World Cup.
Sad to hear about Ambati Rayudu's retirement. Maybe he never got his due because of playing in the rival ICL.

Looks like this English side too is structured similar to current Indian team. Although, they boast so many hitters in their lineup, looking at today's performance, it feels like if only top 3 perform, they are able to put up a decent total. The moment Bairstow is gone, the innings slowed down.

Does Team India need to wear that 'unlucky' Orange jersey again if they meet England in the semis? Or was it just a one-off for that Unicef initiative.

It was just for that one game. They are back to the regular blue for the rest of the matches.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Back to today's match, England finishes 305/8. I think this is gettable if NZ play to their abilities. And if they do, PAK will be more happy than NZ But they will still need to beat B'desh. I am interested in this match for this sole reason as I want IND Vs. PAK in the knock out stage

Going by the way they've played (their batting) in this world cup, I think new Zealand will struggle a bit to get this, unless of course Martin Guptill fires early at the top today

I seem to be watching the ICC world cup for reasons other than cricket and this was certainly one of the highlights. I watched her cheer and then meeting Kohli and Rohit at the end. Nice!
We need a compilation of such off-field moments to boost the image of cricket being competitive and too analytical and highlighting the human aspect

Now Ravindra Jadeja is at it!

Says Sanjay Manjeraker has got ‘verbal diarrhoea’

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

I just saw. What he is saying is true (about Manjrekar's verbal diarrohea) but still it is in bad taste:

- should not call out someone's career. There are a lot of non-cricketers commentators. Yes, SM is an idiot with the mike so the criticism should have been restricted to that

- timing of the tweet? What prompted this unnecessary reaction just before the semis of a world cup.

Now imagine Jadeja playing, getting MoM and being interviewed by Manjrekar

I saw Jadeja's tweet, got the contextual info and wondered aloud the same exact thing!

How good/bad would the decision be to rest one or two players and allow Mayank and/or Jadeja to play the next match? Jadeja actually makes sense; say instead of Dhoni or DK.

-------------------------------------

Edit: So NZ has more or less lost the match so England is definitely secure at #3. Pakistan can't really get from NRR of -0.792 to +0.XX numbers in one match, so New Zealand is going to be at 4 for sure. So unless South Africa somehow screws up Australia's winning streak, we are in for a repeat show with England, on the same pitch

Now that's going to be interesting. Question - is Charu Lata Patel going to be the 'mascot' of the Indian team at this venue?

Either one of them will rush to Rest Room after the match.

Unfortunately, Yes. It is called an away Jersey. It needs to be worn if the match is against host. Looks like we are meeting England for semis. We will be in Indian Oil colors again
