Rahul's performance in the WC so far:
26, 11*, 57, 30, 48, 0
Last 4 in opening. So he's OK so far.

KL is a one trick pony whose expiry date has long passed. He does not have the focus or the drive to perform consistently, especially in crunch games. I think we need to look past him. Top order should score centuries, consistently.

Spot on. Ideally atleast one if not both of those 48 and 57 should have been a 100+ score. He just threw it away on both occasions when the bowling was looking clueless

The pitches and boundary lengths are decided by the ICC in ICC events, not ECB.

No offence but seems like, you have all the inside info on happenings in dressing room .

No idea what made you think that mgmt is going through humiliating phase. I don't see any such humiliation anywhere. Win & loss are part of game. Even Steve waugh too lost a match knowingly to keep mighty WI out & acknowledged the same as well.

Jokes apart, Players do get injured during practice. We have this habit of thinking conspiracies everywhere. Either way, Shankar have not done any wonders that he is cannot be replaced.

Wouldn't the ground curator choose which pitch (if there are multiple ones) to play on ? Once chosen, it will be under umpires control. That was what I had read some time ago in ICC rules. There are specifications for boundary length both for max and min distance. Again, if there are variations, ICC can agree if its brought before it. So length can be shorter than the minimum specified.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

We are playing only 5 bowlers (including pandya) today. Who will bowl if one of our bowlers has a bad day? Not the right match to leave out Kedar i guess?

Rohit Sharma gets his 4th century in India's 6th WC match. Bloody brilliant ! Good to see K.L. Rahul keeping up as well. Will we make 300+ today ?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

This post is not specific to this WC. I know Rohit is exceptional ODI player, but I do feel that he plays for his ‘personal’ records. I am not saying that it is wrong or something like that. But, for a fan (like me), it is extremely irritating to watch a player plays for his personal records (read here for hundreds) when he nears 90. Sehwag is one player who never played for his personal records. He used to play with the same tempo whether he is nearing 100/200/300. Sachin used to play like that during initial stage of his career. But then he became extremely selfish when he was nearing 50s or 100s.

I have never seen these many contradictions during a World Cup. The pace at which injuries have happened or players have recovered is unbelievable. I am waiting to see who gets injured today to bring Jadeja as a substitute.

kavensri, it was a strategy that Rohit will get out after scoring a century. This has given Dhoni enough time to build his innings.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Dhoni seems to be trying to set some record for batting slow in ODI, he's struggling and even doesn't rotate strike. At this rate, he can become our single biggest bottleneck in this world cup.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

From watching the matches so far and the scores scored, looks like this world cup will the the one with the maximum runs scored! How many matches have a score of more than 300! I guess it is the effect of T20's seeping in ODI's!

He has tried to emulate Ravi Shastri's batting during 1992 World Cup. Sanjay Manjrekar is appearing as Dhoni's advocate and trying hard to convince Dhoni's critics. It will be better if Dhoni retires before India exits from this World Cup.

He is certainly not the Dhoni we used to know. Definitely struggling and it doesn't look good on him. I think he might hand his shoes after the tournament.

In the end, I feel that India has fell short by at least 25 runs; but still this total should see us through to the Semi's.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

From a stage where it seemed we are sure to get 350+, to 315, I must say great batting.
Refusing singles in last two overs and then failing to connect, genius!!
I hope the trust we have on our bowlers is not as misplaced as the great finishers of the team!
