Sorry for late reply, but I managed to change address online. In addition to options mentioned by balenoed, here is a 3rd option.

- You can purchase any insurance, be it health / accident / life / property / motor etc. in the name of the person who doesn't have any official address proof. I purchased one "Personal Accident Insurance" online with a nominal amount and used the cover letter as address proof.

Details can be found here.

I got the address in my Aadhaar updated recently fairly quickly. Submitted the request on Nov 30th, attached the estatement of my bank account (IDFC) and paid the amount of Rs 50. On Dec 7th got the message saying it's approved. Was able to download eAadhaar with the updated address immediately. I've now ordered for the PVC card as well. If it matters, I changed from my address in KL to my address in KA.

On an unrelated note, the eAadhaar is getting signed with an expired digital certificate, so the digital signature fails to validate. I've tweeted to UIDAI but no response yet https://twitter.com/varkey/status/1468502573577498626
Interestingly the eAadhaar I downloaded in Feb 2021 (before the certificate expiry date validates as expected)

Is the uidai website working? The home page opens but when I click on the update link the following page ie https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ never loads.

Tried this on both Chrome and edge.

you are right. website do not work for me as well. Tried on laptop/mobile. No luck for past 2 days.It seems that website itself is down and being a govt, nobody cares. :Frustrati

Worked fine for me on Firefox. Maybe has to do with time of testing. I checked 8.10pm.

Finally, Managed to update my address online today. Spoke to UIDAI folks on 1947 & they advised me to use good old "Internet explorer". Did not worked on my official laptop where i am behind a proxy. Tried on personnel laptop running vanilla windows 10 image & managed to complete the process.

UIDAI shenanigans. One must not rely on any govt services in India. There is no concept of SLA / turn around time ( TAT). It can be lifetime.

I had raised a address change request for my nephew on 29 June in anticipation of him getting admitted in college post 12th as it was a mandatory requirement. 3 weeks later, no address update & UIDAI choose to hide behind technical reason & walk off their responsibility. Upon calling 1947, they have no resolution time for anything. Any complaints for regular update can be raised only after 30 days and there too no resolution time for such complaint. For technical reasons, they were kind enough to take a complaint but all you can do is to prey that they will take care of it. There is no resolution time / SLA /TAT for any complaints whatsoever. On top, Agents will dish out any absurd reason from network issue to not hearing voice to cut you off. It,s really pathetic state of affairs in UIDAI.

We are a banana republic in true sense.

As per their FAQ, the TAT is around 90 days :(

My wife had gone to an aadhaar center for a name correction and been a month now with no visible update.

Can only imagine the sheer number of cases they are having to sieve through. Can't be easy.

True & I had to remind them their own FAQ,s. Here too, it is applicable only for normal requests like address update etc. If you raise a complaint, there is no TAT / SLA per se. Who said Digital India is not working. It is working & flourishing like anythinglol:

As for sheer numbers goes, I never understood why govt do not creates required handling capacity knowing fully the population. Only thing which explains it is "bureaucratic apathy" & Lack of "Common sense" to any public service and no sense of responsibility.

UIDAI has just become another government department. My wife visited post office and requested address update. She was given a print out with URN. No SMS or anything came. No trace of address change as well.

When she logged in to UIDAI website, there is no open request for address update. If you search with URN from the print out, it throws an error that it is not recognised :Frustrati

And you cannot log a service request after you logged in. So raised a service request with URN number not found error. They generated SRN but kept it open for a while without update. One fine day, the new address is simply updated and another two weeks to get the aadhar card by post.

I don't even know how their system operates

Recently there is a rush in Aadhaar enrolment centers to update biometrics on cards which are over 10 years old. The local talk goes as far as aadhaar getting blocked, so most of the elderly folks are rushing to update their biometrics/ phone number etc. This has caused a spike in the number of requests and will slow down the entire process.

Last time I did an address update online (during COVID) , it was done in less than a week time.

Wife applied for name correction in June '23 at the local aadhaar center. Paid the fee, got the acknowledgement.

It's been 3 months and no change yet.

When i try to verify update status on the uidai site, it just says temporary backend server error, please try again...for 3 months!!!

Looks like she has to go spend half a day at the center again.

I recently got my middle initial expanded in Aadhaar name. Took me 1 month.

For status check, what number are you inputting? It should be full acknowledgement number, including the date and timestamp upto the last second number. Only then does it show the status, else it keeps throwing error.

Thanks for clarifying that. Tried that now but now it says:
"We're experiencing a delay in processing your request. As and when the issue is resolved and the request is processed, we will communicate the progress. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted."

Shall try after some time.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to inquire, but is it possible for someone to find my address using my Aadhar card number without me providing my OTP or any form of authentication? Are there any portals facilitating such activity?
