Updates in and around Bangalore

This thread is not to discuss if the supreme court verdict is justified or not. I am at work and just want to know if there is any violence around the city. Here lot of rumors are being spread like rioting on Hosur Road , Silk board and airport road. Is this true? Looks like I would have to spend the night in office today.

I have heard that shops have been closed in several parts of the city. There was a lot of traffic on road a few hours back with everyone trying to head home ASAP but I haven't heard anything about violence. Apparently petrol pumps are crowded as everyone wants to fill up expecting bandh tomorrow.

We received following advisory from our office about the situation.

------------------------------------------------

· All party meeting to be held tomorrow.

· Karnataka Government Cabinet is meeting tomorrow to discuss future strategies.

· Karnataka Rakshana workers call for Channapatna Bundh tomorrow.

· Leaders of various Kannada Organisations are likely to hold a meeting late in the evening to discuss the future course of action including giving call for a Karnataka Bundh.

· The Karnataka Government has decided to file a special review the orders of the tribunal.

· In Chamarajnagar the Tamil Channels of TV are blocked.

· Kollegal Town observed bundh.

· Karnataka Rakshana Workers (200) took out a procession in Majestic area and have gathered in front of City Railway Station.

· Mysore - Bangalore bus traffic is affected.

· The traffic in Bangalore City is unaffected. However, there was a stray case of stone pelting on buses in Magadi Road.

But KSRTC is still trying.. But they are stopped at the border... I can post pics of the border. taken from my window if anybody wants... Dunno about BMTC because they come only tio atthipally which is not visible from my window.. How many working days have you lost in the last 3 weeks? My sympathies - go home early whatever the situation is now because these things do not happen gradually.

We closed at 4pm. No incidences on Hosur Road/ Madivala at all. Smooth drive into town. Traffic thick but flowing

We have been asked to call in after 11.00pm on decision whether office will open

We disbanded at 230 pm after the verdict. Roads were empty and eventless all along the Tumkur Road - Jalahalli Cross - ORR via Ambedkar College/BU - Mysore Road - Inner Ring Road. Heard some 700 people got arrested as a precaution.

The DCP came online on FM 91.1 in the evening and said things were peaceful everywhere.

We've been asked to check by tomorrow 8 am to find out office status

theMAG, was it just ordinary people or people who matter [in such situations] who're confined?

Most shops along JC Rd / RV Road / Jayanagar were closed. Gandhinagar & Majestic areas were supposed to be closed completely.

Expecting an un-easy few days ahead. Trying to avoid taking out the cars.

Let's please stick to imparting news about possible violence and not discuss any politics. Thanks in advance.
