Re: R.I.P. Steeroid (Santhosh Gopalan)

Hello everyone,

This is Varun, Santhosh’s son. I have been reading all your kind messages on this thread over the last few days, but it took a while to find the credentials to this account. Reading some of your stories about my dad makes my mum and me very happy, and I have also been reading some of his old posts and memoirs. They make me smile, as if he were narrating them to me himself.

This forum meant a lot to my dad, and he has met his closest friends through team BHP. The same people have been incredibly supportive and helpful to us during this time. He was passionate about cars and people alike, and he realised both of these passions through this forum. It is nice to read about how much he meant to all of you. Evidently, he was as exceptional a friend as he was a father and a husband, and that makes me very happy.

Once again, thanks for all your well wishes.

Dear Varun, honestly, feel at a loss of words.

I remember your dad mentioning that you are on TBHP too, but the id had slipped from memory. Feels good to see your post. Our prayers are with you all, and for your dad. Many of us old timers on TBHP are about the same age - and that adds to the disbelief that he is gone so soon.

Dear Varun, my deepest condolences to your mother and you for this tragic and unexpected loss of your father. You have written a very mature and balanced post despite the sadness you must be experiencing. May God bless him and your family.

Yours prayerfully,
Narayan

Re: R.I.P. Steeroid (Santhosh Gopalan)

Shocked to see this news. Really really bad news, during the 2005-07 era his posts and inputs were on par with RTech and The Yeti, and now he joins them...

My eyes misted when I read his son's post. Dear Varun, if you do a search you can see a post; one that mentions about you, that you throwing tantrums when your parents decided to sell a Hyundai Accent (immediately after the purchase of a new Safari).

So fresh, so sad the days are no more. May God give you and your mom strength in these dark days. Be a distinguished TBHPian and make your dad proud.

IIRC, he's the one who announced the news of your wedding in the forum.

Re: R.I.P. Steeroid (Santhosh Gopalan)

I see many names from the early days of tbhp here posting condolences.
I remember avidly following Steeroids story about his black 3L Scorpio from maybe almost 15 yrs ago.
Very sorry to hear about his passing.

I have never met him, neither did i knew him personally, but it felt like i knew him. It's just by reading his TeamBhp posts.

Indeed a very sad & shocking news. Be happy wherever you are.

My sincere condolences to his family.

This is shocking to read. Just a few days ago Santhosh had commented
on that Yeti thread as a fellow owner. And over the years we have corresponded and gleaned some inputs from one another.

I am saddened to hear this and wish his family great strength to bear his loss.

RIP Steer - now that you're gone to the great Grand Prix Circuit in the Sky...

Dear Varun, it always sad to see an old friend go. However, this is the way of life. Kalchakra continues.

Dear Varun,

I still have tears in my eyes as I type this. Santosh was a dear man. Always willing to help. It hurts too see such good men (Santosh and Sam must be having a blast now) leave us.

My deepest condolences to your mother and you. May God give both of you the strength to bear this loss.

I know you are quite a fantastic young man and I hope you continue your studies. God bless you "kid".
