Kerala is at 52. The Kasarkode case could turn out to be a possible super spreader. I saw his contact route map. He has been roaming around like crazy. Shudder to think about the possible number of people whome he could have infected!!

One positive seems that there are no patients in intensive care for now.

Source: covidout.in

Here in Singapore, the new cases remain high. We saw an uptick of 47 cases with 39 of them imported. Total of 14 are in ICU.

The Kasargode guy had even donated blood. He is not revealing to the cops about where all he went, whom he met to hide certain things from family as per news reports. Scary

There was a power cut at our place since 17:30 hrs. We went to the apartment terrace, however, after 19:00 hrs. they put on the generator, having its exhaust pipe terminating on the terrace. So we decided to go for a short drive.

I am appalled how lightly people are taking this.

There are young couples and others thronging eateries, Darshinis, Jayanagar market, Sukh Sagar, etc.

Andhra restaurants have the same waiting as seen during normal weekends.

People are queuing up at medical stores as if they just realised they don't have a particular medicine.

At NR Colony, there is minimum 50 m queue for the Nandini milk booth.

Petrol bunks also have a good amount of people filling in.

Folks are roaming around as if their neighbour will take care of everything!

Pathetic, sometimes I feel that our populace deserves it.

Not commenting on particular buyers (may have a genuine need), but the panic purchasing highlights a downside of modern consumer practices.

We're so used to everything we want being available at a moment's notice (often door-delivered), we've forgotten how to keep even minimal running stock of what we need so we don't need to panic in an emergency.

Overreacting and consequent hoarding makes it worse in the other direction.

Someone, on a lighter note, posted the following picture in whatsapp as the route map of the Kasaragod guy.

The Coronavirus Thread-2340.jpg

I think we are dealing with a psychopath here. He is responding differently to questions by Police and is not revealing full information. Police case has been initiated against the person and he will be dealt with after he is recovered from his illness. Anyway District administration has ordered a complete lock down in Kasaragod District, including Government Offices. So keeping fingers crossed.

A Doctor currently remarked that people are currently using up resources (masks and sanitizers) that will be crucial in the community spread stage. He added that this is just like spending all the crackers days before Diwali.

Here in Kerala, production of three layer masks has been initiated in various jails and with Kudumbashree (society of Women) units. Bulk production of santizers has started from Government based factories. I don't think N95 masks will be in stock anytime soon.

Every Government Office has been directed to retain only half of the employees each day. Directions has been received to acquire a thermal scanner and admit employees / visitors based on his / her temperature and symptoms (cough / cold).

People post videos from foreign airports, begging, crying and pleading Government to take them home. Once they reach here, they disobey all the directions and put the whole society in serious jeopardy. [Edit :(Of course, not all of them, but a handful of irresponsible ones)]

The administration in Kerala has taken lots of good decisions in the fight against Covid -19. God Forbid, if the State fails, it can easily be attributed to the deeds of the morons who took the directions of the administration lightly

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Just received news of the first Covid-19 case here in Assam. Apparently it's a four year old girl who just returned from a trip to Jharkhand with family.

The report says she returned from Bihar, not Jharkhand.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

I came across this resource that compiles clinical findings and recommendations about handling Covid-19, from hospitals in China.

Might be useful for any doctors following this thread.

https://covid-19.alibabacloud.com/

Among other things, it provides a detailed handbook about the different aspects such as clinical investigations, treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of patients.

The man's a gold smuggler. Hence his hesitancy in revealing his travel details. Before this bit of news came out, he gave a phone interview to Asianet News where he said he was ignorant about the fact he was infected and he only attended just a few events and so. All of the state's efforts in curbing the spread and then this guy.

The states of Jharkhand and West Bengal have announced no entry of trains from 22nd to 31st March. Further, all India train movements will be curtailed for 72 hours starting today till 25th March (from a reliable source in Indian Railways).

The videos of Mumbai and Pune railway stations reminded me of the chinese new year travellers which further spiked the cases in China. Railways should shut down long distance trains.
