Maybe if you happen to tell them you are flying in via hubei province?

Lets hope for the best.
The key point to note is that whatever mask one wears has to be discarded everyday and a new one used everyday. Also care has to be exercised not to touch the outer surface while taking the mask off.
A good N95 mask is quite expensive and it would be an overkill/impractical to replace everyday.
Since the virus is not airborne and present in body fluids, ordinary masks would be good enough, the important part is to replace them often.

Airbnb so far. Never cancelled with them before so time will tell how they respond.

It seems Thailand is the most effected after China. Hopefully they'll get a hold of it and stop the spread soon.

Well not Thailand. It is Japan with 45 cases. Next is Singapore with 30 cases. Thailand has 25.

Worrying fact is that now even people with no travel history to China are found to be infected. Relieving fact is (If I can call it that), almost 97% of deaths are from Hubei province. The hospitals there are already over run by patients and the lockdown means residents can't go to other cities for treatment. China attempts to control the spread to other regions by sacrificing lives in Wuhan. A difficult decision that cannot be questioned on its intent.
Outside of Wuhan, only 0.16% of people infected so far have died.

Chinese Website Shows Over 24,000 Dead By Coronavirus, And Over 1.5 Lakh People Still Suffering.

Quote:
Official Chinese reports have pegged the death toll to have crossed 500, with 3000 new cases of Coronavirus contractions reported in the last week. However, many feel that these numbers aren’t accurate and the death toll has crossed over 24,589 people.

China’s second-largest conglomerate, Tencent accidentally displayed figures for the Coronavirus on a Chinese website this past Saturday, which showed over 154,023 people were infected by the virus and over 24,589 actually dead -- which is several times more than what the official Chinese state media has reported till now.

First reported by Taiwan News, this was seen on Tencent’s Epidemic Situation Tracker website. However, moments after displaying the aforementioned numbers, the display changed it to the official figures of 14,446 infected and 304 dead.*

re: The Coronavirus Thread

I read on ndtv online that Chinese doctor Li Wenliang who first reported the coronavirus has died from the same. Very sad. He was pressured by the local police after the virus news had spread with his id. Apparently, the first batch of patients were from the seafood market in Wuhan. I believe seafood is the most contaminated of all foods as rivers, lakes and oceans are the first repositories of human and industrial waste and should not be eaten or if so very sparingly.

Well Corona Viruses are family of zoonotic virus that are found to infect both animals and humans. This particular strain of virus has not previously been found in Humans.

The disease does seem to originate from a seafood market from Wuhan. But the theory is not that it jumped from Seafood to humans. This market although called seafood market actually sells all sorts of live, wild animals like bats, snake, Fox etc. It seems that the virus first jumped from Bats and not due to contaminated seafood.

Moreover, whatsapp university got it wrong. Flu species jump happen from "Live animals". Lot of these markets kill animals right in front of you. Also, bringing in many species together when they are alive in unhygenic conditions also facilitates the species jump, which these viruses really love.

So its okay to eat the chicken, but don't take her out on a date, and definitely not a good night kiss

The Chinese love warm meat. They want live animals butchered in front of them.

A second issue is the jump first happened from one wild animal to another. In this case, potentially from a wild bat to a civet cat. Many of these wild animals will never find themselves next to each other in the wild and there fore no chance of the virus jump. Now in these Chinese markets you have all kinds of exotic animals living right next to each other in deplorable conditions.

Perfect.

Dr. Francis Boyle Creator Of BioWeapons Act Says Coronavirus Is Biological Warfare Weapon | GreatGameIndia

In an explosive interview Dr. Francis Boyle, who drafted the Biological Weapons Act has given a detailed statement admitting that the 2019 Wuhan Coronavirus is an offensive Biological Warfare Weapon and that the World Health Organization (WHO) already knows about it.

Francis Boyle is a professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law. He drafted the U.S. domestic implementing legislation for the Biological Weapons Convention, known as the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, that was approved unanimously by both Houses of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.

In an exclusive interview given to*Geopolitics and Empire, Dr. Boyle discusses the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China and the Biosafety Level 4 laboratory (BSL-4) from which he believes the infectious disease escaped.

He believes the virus is potentially lethal and an offensive biological warfare weapon or dual-use biowarfare weapons agent genetically modified with gain of function properties, which is why the Chinese government originally tried to cover it up and is now taking drastic measures to contain it. The Wuhan BSL-4 lab is also a specially designated World Health Organization (WHO) research lab and Dr. Boyle contends that the WHO knows full well what is occurring.

Dr. Boyle also touches upon*GreatGameIndia's exclusive report*Coronavirus Bioweapon*– where we reported in detail how Chinese Biowarfare agents working at the Canadian lab in Winnipeg were involved in the smuggling of Coronavirus to Wuhan's lab from where it is believed to have been leaked.

That seems to be his favourite pastime, he made the same claim about the Ebola outbreak:

Oh and again about the Zika outbreak:

https://www.infowars.com/top-expert-...s-a-bioweapon/

He's just trying to stay in the news by making sensational claims that he has no proof for. And 'news' websites happily cover it because they know it will get clicks.

I usually ignore these theories but here the timing is very suspect. The Chinese Lunar New year is when 500 mn people travel domestically to their homes. If there was a bad intent, this was the perfect time to unleash it.

Fair enough, but co-incidence of timing doesn't make the claims of the 'expert' in the online articles credible.

These days it's just too easy for fake news to spread (faster than a virus! ). But it's also much easier to cross-verify and check if what one is reading is indeed true or not. In this case, a simple google search of the 'expert' in question gives you several articles where he's made similar claims without a shred of evidence, just speculation. So it's far, far more probable that he's bs-ing for coverage rather than this being an actual bio-weapon.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

The virus is affecting the Indian shipping business.

Quote:
Tanking freight rates on the back of the coronavirus epidemic in China are likely to hurt the earnings of Indian shipping companies in the March quarter. “Freight rates have tumbled significantly and are impacting SCI (Shipping Corporation of India) across segments. We have seen the damage in January already. Our Q4 earnings are most likely to be affected due to this,” said Harjeet K. Joshi, chairman of state-owned SCI on Friday. She was speaking on the sidelines of an ASSOCHAM event held here.

SCI reported consolidated net sales of Rs 1,25,761 crore in December quarter, up 17 per cent over the same period last year with strong contribution from the tanker segment.

“We had robust performance in the third quarter, mainly from tankers. Now, tanker freights have softened. So, we are in a wait-and-watch mode. There is impact on every segment for us but it is varying,” said Joshi, without detailing the quantum of impact on each of its businesses. Liners, offshore, bulk carriers, tankers and containers are the business segments of the SCI.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

This Twitter thread gives a very realistic & thoughtful understanding of the nature of N-Coronavirus, how it spreads and the reality of how it'll be dealt with. It also debunks some myths, such as the rubbish rumours about it being a bio-weapon of sorts.

It necessarily emphasises how important vaccines are and some precautions that one must take in general to resist viral infections with respect to hygiene and following a healthy lifestyle to build immunity.
