re: The Coronavirus Thread

For some bbc, gaurdian cnn is like holy places. Its a fashion and style statement for them to say that and also how some indian news channels are pathetic ( which unfortunately is true) .

Western media has never looked at India and its affairs in a just manner, always biased. But the important part is most of the general public from the western world has quite a positive outlook and rest of them just don't care. And this is what should count. Not what their news channels are saying.

From the prince to the pauper, this virus has spared none. And unlike the previous instances in history, it has taken on the former more than the latter.

Boris' case is unique because it is as if he wished and willed it on himself by advocating the 'herd immunity' approach. He had even called on his countrymen to be ready to lose some of their near and dear ones.

Hope he recovers; sooner than later. No country can fight its battles without a fully functional commander in chief. And perhaps for the first time in the history of civilized world, all nations are on the same side of the battlefield (bar one, some may say; only time can give us some clarity there) and therefore, it is in the best interests of humanity that all leaders stay strong and guide us through the current quagmire, into safety.

Tragic story of Bergamo which was most affected in Italy. Very depressing indeed

I find it rather symbolic that both Prince Charles and British PM got infected. It's important that Boris Johnson recovers soon because at this point governments world over need to function at full (and above) capacity.

I was wondering if there are any countries left which are still not affected (or not reported). There's North Korea, but it would be a good question now to find the rest if any still left.

Sorry, at this moment, I don't have an information on this. We had been referring to Govt. testing centre in Mumbai. I shall update regarding the private labs shortly.

========

Meanwhile, let us have a look at the development regarding drug trials for COVID-19. WHO has already launched mega trials of 4 promising drugs --

1. Remdesivir
2. Hydroxychloroquine
3. Ritonavir+Lopinavir
4. Ritonavir+Lopinavir+interferon beta

Read here - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.zme...-covid-19/amp/

Apart from this, I have been closely following the developments on "Favipravir". Favipravir is not a part of WHO trials but is being extensively studied by Japan and China.

Hope one of these drugs make a breakthrough, fingers crossed

re: The Coronavirus Thread

39 new cases in Kerala. 34 of them in Kasargode.
Situation critical says CM.

Don't be like Boris shaking hands in a hospital. Keep distance.

Bosch develop a machine which can test for CoVID - 19 and give results within 2-3 hrs. Best thing is you don't need to send the test samples anywhere as you inject your swab into a cartridge and then into the machine. The machine checks and delivers the results in 2.5-3hrs.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Guys sharing a website that identifies quarantined home in Karnataka. The Government of Karnataka has put the information of quarantined people in public domain. The Kerala government plans to do the same.

Request to Mods: if this is not appropriate, please delete the post.

In Kasargode, 25 are Dubai returns, rest are primary contacts. Hope remains that it is not a community spread.
The more worrying news from Kerala is that a Sub Collector who was supposed to be under quarantine escapes to be with relatives.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

In Karnataka one man died being infected with corona virus. He had not travelled abroad. He had been to Delhi and back in Train.

There are lots of people who have come back from Saudi/Dubai. Many of them are congregating for religious activities. I think its out there and hope distancing and quarantine will keep it in low numbers.
