Could be and good to know. I quoted CDDEP only here and they carry the same info on the web page too.

Apparently Ramanan Laxminarayan is a Director at CDDEP. https://cddep.org/about/board_directors/
This number throwing game is starting to become a claim to fame for some people. Now he has indulged in some kind of fraud by using JHU's logo in the report.

Meanwhile Kerala Govt. decided to release this weird and confusing (for me at least) info regarding medications:

Now first slide has some disclaimer disassociating all three organizations. Strange!

Also it looks like the presentation has content from different of sources, some credited and some not. Slide 24 resembles very closely to the one here quoted by NNT where he calls it irresponsible.

Heartbreaking to say the least. That too when summer has started setting in. While we applaud the prompt actions from our living rooms. The pictures you posted show a different reality of the other India.
If this is being telecast now in the TV channels (I've skipped watching news for some time), once these people eventually reach their "home"s they may find themselves facing a social boycott (due to virus fears).

This obviously defeats the whole point of social distancing. Doesn't this situation actually increase the probability of making it more widespread?

It is probably for doctors and medical departments, not for general public. So it may not be confusing to them.

I think the Viral load has to come down on its own. When they say "not responding to treatment", it is a wrong statement since there is no "treatment" per se for COVID 19, only supportive care. It's only the person's own immunity that has to ultimately fight the virus.

If the person is improving or atleast stable symptomatically, then it should not be cause of much worry.

This is nothing to do with blame, a game which USA started anyway. China has a need to prevent re-import of the virus. Its action is valid and reasonable.

I totally understand that they do not want to start a second wave in the interest of themselves and for the rest of the world.

But what is wrong in that statement? The biggest mistake they did was to cover it up as early as in December of 2019.

This is confusing.

Is this official Kerala state government communication ?

I am surprised because they have recommended drugs like Hydrochloroquine/Azithromycin and some anti Malaria/anti HIV drugs.

Is this treatment standardized all across India for COVID patients?

P.S. I don't think this treatment protocol is only for medical caregivers themselves. If you see they have mentioned Children as well

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Do the numbers for India on international reporting sites ring true? 987 infected and 25 deaths?

Here is the latest from covid19india.org

Sir, is there any reason that makes you doubt these numbers? Can you pls share? Apologies if I inferred your post incorrectly.

Don't see anything in the news yet. Thank you.

What is everyone else doing so different? We're sitting in a country of 1.3 billion nodding our heads at ~1000 confirmed cases and somehow thinking what's brutalizing everyone else is passing us by.

China, at the very least, probably didn't have a reference point to quantify impact given it started there.

How about everyone else who truly turned this global by doing nothing once we did find out and sitting on our hands, some even with months of advance notice of what's coming, until things started turning towards the worse?

Blaming China is a bit of a global sport now, I wouldn't comment on it one way or another, but plenty of what's happened in the last few months since the first outbreak can't be laid at China's feet, and won't make a difference if we did.
