Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Modified the home office little bit. Got a 24 inch monitor connected to the laptop docking station. Got an ergonomic chair as well. I am planning to mount the monitor on the wall. During ergonomic assessment I was told to raise the screen to eye level and use external keyboard and mouse.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I have a simple setup with just a table and chair (company provided it for healthy and productive WFH scenes) and a work laptop. The setup doubles up as the gaming corner where I attach my racing wheel and pedals for the weekend.

One thing though, is very important in Bangalore, that I have procured, which is a UPS for the WiFi Router. Every time power switches from the Electricity Board to Society's power backup (at least 3 times a day) and back again, I pull out a good chunk of my hair. The connection drop and VPN disconnects and the code that was running for 20 mins fails.
So before I become completely bald, I invested in this WiFi UPS from Resonate, which was quite reasonable (bill footed by the company, again ) for the support it provides. It's a blessing for my hair.

I fully understand the problem and in fact, we have three UPSes at home. One for the Wi-Fi router, another for my laptop docking station / monitor and third one for the TV

Don't put it too high. 30% from the top of the screen should be at eye level.

Consider raising the laptop (screen) as well.

I have this and it's pretty nice: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ergonomic assessment was arranged by my employer. It was done by a specialist from USA on a video call. Before the assessment number of photos of the workstation from different angles need to be provided.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Any idea where one could get a standing motorised height adjusting desk in India ?

I need one as it looks and feels perfect for my existing setup.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

My modest WFH setup. The table is just under 1M in length. So got a monitor arm for the 24" display. This has worked wonders in clearing up the desk space and give the monitor a floating feeling. I hate cables lying around. So tucked everything using cable ties to the monitor arm.

The table is a polished solid wood one. So lot of friction on your palms when you operate the mouse. This can cause a burning sensation. An extended mouse pad to the rescue.
A wireless charger and a pad for hot drinks complete the setup.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

BHPians, I'm trying to make a small work from home table for my mother. Since she had been working from home for a long time now, she has started developing back and neck problems. Could you all help with pointers on the height, placement etc. based on your setups. We bought a good leather rotating armchair with height adjustable lumbar support and decent neck support. It can adjust height and recline so I think desk height shouldn't be a problem. I have a small 3 foot by 2 foot folding table which might be fixed in her room, but there's a lot of teak wood lying around with big pieces too. I thought I could make something up for her. Want to change the folding metal brackets to a bigger piece of wood for a bigger desk.

I have quite some wood and woodworking tools too like a reciprocating saw, drilling machine, wood planer, dual action sanding machine, files etc. any help would be really really helpful, thanks in advance

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Dear BHPians, a newbie type scenario...

I am trying to use a bluetooth speaker (Boat stone 190F) for online meetings, instead of Laptop's built in speaker/mic. I am facing couple of issues.

- Windows keeps disconnecting bluetooth after an interval
- People in the meeting complain that they can't hear me well (feeble voice)

Please advise..

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

That's my setup
  • Dell Inspiron and Asus Vivobook S14 laptop
  • Dell & HP 23 inches monitor (Both monitors connected by HDMI because VGA sucks)
  • Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
  • HP Printer
  • DLink Modem & MiWiFi extender to cover entire premises
  • BSNL 8 Mbps, Airtel 4G hotspot as a backup line.
  • Logitech Headphones (Super lightweight and very comfortable)
  • PiBox Type C to HDMI converter
  • A small rechargeable LED tube light to light up face adequately during video calls.
  • A fabric executive chair.
  • Mi 360 camera to keep eye on my office when I am away. I work for ISO27001 company. Safety and security are topmost priorities.
  • A plastic vegetable container. A spike guard is kept inside and all monitor/laptop chargers are kept inside, thus no cable clutter outside. Something like this.

Now looking for decent webcam as the laptop has VGA cam.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Finally got some time, space and vitamin M to setup my home office properly. Got a gaming desk along with a LG 27” monitor for MBP 2018 and using Bose Quite Comfort ii for my noise cancellation needs

This is still work in progress and I might add a 4K tv alongside for PS4 soon.

Hello,

This is from Amazon Germany (amazon.de),made out of plastic and not that expensive. I paid 30 euros for 6 boxes. Planning to get few more boxes as it does not cover my whole collection.

Here's the link : https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/produc...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Should be something similar in India as well.

You would need to go into the sound settings and see if you can increase the MIC gain. Probably your speaker is connected, but the MIC being used by the system is still the laptops. See those settings.
