The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

The Series

"The Fast and the Furious" series has come a long way. It went from a movie based on street racing and small crime to a movie based on heists, fighting and non car related stuff. We all love this series only for the cars and car culture. No wonder why car guys love the first three installments and hate the rest. The series was responsible for for the car scenes and car culture of the 2000s and the series had a huge impact on the custom car scene. The series has come a long way since the first movie and has created some of the most iconic cars ever. So here is the list of the most iconic ones.

The Cars

Brian's Supra
Dom's Charger
Brian's Skyline GT-R34
Brian's Eclipse
Jonny Tran's S2000
Han's RX-7
The Civics
The Lykan Hypersport

Brian's Supra

Probably the most important car in the first movie and in the whole series. It was the "ten second car" that destroyed a Ferrari in a drag race. The plot of the movie kinda revolved around the supra. It was a 1994 supra. It was involve in saving Vince from the semi truck, chasing down and shooting Jonny tran and the famous drag scene with Dom's Charger. The Supra was rented from the technical advisor on the film, Craig Lieberman.

According to the internet, these are the modifications done on the supra:
Quote:
Performance mods include a 2JZ 3.1 engine swap, Turbonetics T-66 ball-bearing turbo & Delta II wastegate, RPS stainless steel/HTC-coated custom header, NOS 100-hp NOS system, AEBS turbo downpipe, GReddy Power Extreme Exhaust, Pro-Fec B boost controller, Airinx intake, Clutchmasters stage III racing clutch, an 11-pound billet flywheel. and an Eibach coilover suspension. Appearance mods include M5Tuners 19" Dazzle Racing Hart rims, and custom graphics as well as the D•T Precision Auto Shop logo.
Or for a more detailed list:
http://fastandfuriousfacts.com/fast-...s-supra-specs/

The car as you would expect was fast. Here are the performance numbers:
Quote:
544 – 569 Horsepower without nitrous.
0-60 in 4.3 seconds (on 19 inch street tires)
0-100 in 9.2 seconds (on 19 inch street tires)
¼ mile in 12.2 seconds at 127 mph
Top speed = 185 mph
No words can describe the legacy of this car. Only a true Fast and Furious fan would know this car's impact. If you have see the first movie(I assume every one has seen it),then there is a high chance that this is the car that pops up in your mind when you here the words "Fast and Furious","Brian","Supra" or "Paul Walker". This car played its part in the custom car scene and tuning scene.

Dom's Charger

The Charger is the car that has made the most in this series appearing in all the movies except the second and sixth one . Through out the series the car has gone trough a "blower" version,
"classic"version , "off road"version and the" Ice Charger" version. But we are going to talk about the most iconic one , the "blower" version. It has appeared in the first, fourth and seventh installments. It's a 70' R/T model. This is also known as the " Hero Charger". The blower on the car in the first movie is fake(obviously). This was the car Dom was scared to drive. This car has 900 bhp and has a record 1/4 mile of 9 seconds at the Los Angeles County Raceway (in the movie). Anyways this car was involved in the greatest Fast and Furious scene of all time ( the drag race with the Supra). The real power house was a standard Mopar big block – a 383/440 . But do you care about the engine? No , you only care about the wheelies this car can do.

The specs of the car (in the movie) :
Quote:
Model: 1969/1970 Dodge Charger R/T
0-100 Km/h: "Unknown"
Top speed: "Unknown"
Quarter mile: 9 Seconds flat (shown in movie)
Engine: Supercharged Chrysler 426 Hemi V-8
Power: 900 BHP
Wheel Drive: Rear Wheel Drive
Performance extra's: Supercharged with BDS 9-71 Roots-style blower
Body kit: "Original"
Color: Black (from Metallic to Matt)
Wheels/Tires: Continental Sport Contact
Rims: Front size- 18-by-8.0 inches, Rear size- 18-by-9.5 inches
Well this car was really influential. It came at a time when muscles we fading away and the Japs were insanely popular. This being the hero, obviously made people fall in love with muscle cars. All the non petrolheads just loved this car because it had a blower(Fake blower) and that it did wheelies.People just thought it is cool. To be honest its kinda cool. This car made muscle cars cool again. No wonder why this car is the face of this series.

Brian's Skyline GT-R34

Everyone loves the Nissan Skyline GT-R34. Its the 1999 version. The car is just insane. It is one of the 11 road legal r34's in the US. This appeared in the second installment of the series. This car just appears in the first race and is latter impounded by US customs. Even though it was short lived it is the car that almost everyone remembers from the second movie.

The mods:
Quote:
HKS 2540 turbos
HKS Titanium exhaust
HKS downpipe
HKS 800cc injectors
HKS 264 cams
C-West body kit (fiberglass)
C-West full carbon rear wing
C-West carbon fiber canards (added after the movie)
Trunk had mock race-style fuel-filler ports by Atuki in Japan
Toyo T1R Proxes 285/30/19 at all four corners
HRE 446R Wheels, 19 x 10 inches
StopTech 15″ front brakes with 6 piston calipers
StopTech 14″ rear brakes with 4 piston calipers
Stock 6-Speed gearbox
Ohlins remote-reservoir coil-over suspension
Nismo Titanium Strut tower bar
Nismo sway bars
For more:
http://fastandfuriousfacts.com/2-fas...skyline-specs/

Performance:
Quote:
420-450 Horsepower without nitrous
0-60 in 4.2 seconds (on 19 inch street tires)
0-100 in 9.0 seconds (on 19 inch street tires)
¼ mile in 12.0 seconds at 122 mph
Top speed = 165 mph
Legacy? It was a r34 on American streets. Enough Said.

Brian's Eclipse

The eclipse. The first car you see after the black civics. The car that had enough nitrous to blow it's self up. The eclipse was a legend in every way. It was the perfect tuner car for the early 2000s because it was only about the looks .The car was actually had a N/A engine(Stock one). Yeah, it was not fast, but people love it because it looks good(And had neon lights) and was kinda important in the first movie until Jonny Tran Blows it up.

Here are the Mods:
Quote:
RoboCar full body kit
Custom fabbed lower front splitter (carbon – not used in the movie)
APR GT2- style rear wing
Custom roof-scoop (not functional)
Carbon fiber race-style mirrors
1997 headlights
Axis Model Se7en Wheel, 18″ (as used in the movie)
ADR M-Classic 19″ wheels (not used in the movie)
AEM cross drilled front brake rotors
Stock 5-speed gearbox
Tanabe SS springs
Energy Suspension bushings
For more:
http://fastandfuriousfacts.com/brians-eclipse-specs/

Anyways this car was a slowboi:
Quote:
140 Horsepower (at the crank) without nitrous
0-60 in 8.9 seconds (on 19 inch street tires)
¼ mile in 16.4 seconds at 84 mph
Top speed = 130 mph
Well this car started the Most stupid and popular mod trend of the 2000s. Neon lights under your car.

Jonny Tran's S2000

This car is famous for one reason. The reason is this dialog:

Quote:
“I bet you he’s got more than a $100k under the hood of that car,”
- Brian O'Conor
And since then the car is known for having "100k under the hood".

Anyways the mods:
Quote:
Comptech Novi Supercharger
4 into 1 header
HKS exhaust
80 Nitrous system
Veilside Millennium body kit and Wing
Toyo T1R Proxes 225/40/18 at all four corners
Motegi Wheels 18 x 8.5
Expected more because it's a Honda.

Performance:
Quote:
295 Horsepower without nitrous (370 (est) with nitrous
0-60 in 5.4 seconds (on 18 inch street tires)
0-100 in 12/9 seconds (on 18 inch street tires)
¼ mile in 13.7 seconds at 101 mph
Top speed = 155 mph
Sadly this car was painted pink and used in the second movie.

Han's RX-7

This might be one of the most respected car in the whole series. Reason: No LS engine swap done and maybe because it was the only car in Tokyo Drift that did not have a crazy paint job or graphics.

The mods:
Quote:
Veilside Fortune Bodykit
Veilside built with Apexera Power FC engine management system
HKS TO42 turbo kit
V-mounted intercooler
Veilside custom intercooler piping
NKG racing spark plugs
Veilside 19
Pirelli P Zero 19
Apexera N1 dampner
Rotora brake system
This car proved that rotary is more loved than ICE.

The Civics

The Civics are iconic. They were perfectly tuned and modded and not riced. They became popular because they were easy for fans to replicate and showed the world that Civics could be customized properly.

Mods done:
Quote:
ody kits were the VIS GT Bomber Kit.
The rear wing was a Veilside style Kombat dual deck universal spoiler.
Green neon lighting was by Street Glow
Axis Neo Wheels (17×7)
Yokohame tires
Performance:
Quote:
102hp-125hp (depending on whether we’re talking about the DX or the EX).
0-60 in 9.9 seconds – maybe
0-100 in 2-3 days
¼ mile in 18.0 seconds at 65 mph
Top speed = 108 mph

The Lykan Hypersport

Before you hit me out Read this. The hyper sport came out in 2013. Only carpeople, Arabs and Kids like me who played Asphalt 8 knew about this car. Fast forward 2017, this car falls through three skyscrapers in Abu Dhabi after being stolen from some rich guy's safe in his penthouse. This estabished the car in the regular people . A bunch of non car guys i know would say "Lykans are cooler than Lambos". The movie made this car famous.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

If it is just the F&F series, then it has got to be Brian's green 1995 Eclipse. Else if we're talking about JDM cars, it has got to be the GT-R! Though it sounded like a supercharged vehicle (most of the engine sounds were fake), I've read online that it actually had a Chrysler 2.0 engine (which I admit was a major let down). Heck, the movie wasn't even made by gearheads, just regular guys! Still love that car though, and good ol' Paul Walker, may he rest in peace..

The first proper scene with him at the wheel is just etched on my mind like nothing else. It was the one which fueled the tuning culture in the US and made poster cars for our bedrooms!

A close second would be a tie between Brian's GT-R and Dom's Charger.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

Indisputably the Charger for me. I generally love american muscle, especially the Mustang + Camaro + Challenger. Although, I'd probably tone down Dom's Charger if I ever owned such a car. It looks too excessive to actually be driveable. Something like this would be more inline with my tastes:

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

I'm sorry, but I have to hand it out to the original all black Honda Civics with the underbody Neons, that were used in the very first F&F.

On a related note, this meme came up in my news feed today. And the 2020 version looks pretty nice too.

Unpopular opinion : for me it's Betty's Jensen Interceptor from fast and furious 6. Such a beauty

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

Voted for Dom's Charger.

My love for muscle cars kept growing every year and with every movie. Sometimes we don't realise the impact of movies have on our real lives.

I had a Fiero dating back to 2003 and slowly felt there is a connection between owning a muscle car and a bike like Fiero. More mechanical, Powerful, Classic styling, Lean, Straight lines and more. May be this was all my imagination

And recently took up the project to turn my old bike into a classic. Yes.. a restoration of 15+ year old bike. When there were people buying classic bikes from stores, I waited to turn mine into one. Lots of Patience, effort & some money involved .

So here are few shots of my Fiero. You can see the inspiration drawn from muscle cars - Matt Grey, racing stripes, stock look, chrome (though minimal).

Do you guys like it?
