Wonder how they decide on the relaxations, there is no way a religious place will be restricted with 10 persons !

Yes, apparently Camphora 1M tabs have been used by countries such as Cuba and Brazil as well as a preventive measure and the governments have distributed the tabs to millions in the respective countries. Closer home, even Kerala government has also distributed around four million vials of homeopathic medicines like Arsenic Album as a preventive measure against COVID. Rajiv Bajaj has long been a proponent of homeopathy and this use of Camphora 1M can be used as adjunct treatment along with the usual treatment. I am all for homeopathy if it adds a potent defence for all the frontline workers and anybody who is at risk.

The world is concentrating too much on statistics related to Covid-19, if any government ends up having more deaths related to Covid-19, it is plastered all over the news channel and will be used to score brownies points by the opposition. No wonder patients suffering from other illnesses are being denied treatment, if they die, they are part of statistics no one care about.

It is sad and very unfortunate. We have traveled this distance from being humans to just another statistics rather fast.

From the link -> In mid-2003, authorities found that the design of bathroom floor drains lacked a replenishment system to keep the water traps filled, allowing virus-laden aerosols to seep into bathrooms, exacerbated by the draw of bathroom exhaust fans.

Only one block (E) was affected. Others, not so much. Other apartment complexes were immune to this problem.

The Amoy Gardens turned out to be an exception in quite a few ways. The residents apparently had complained many times but their issue weren't resolved - massive pest (roaches) infestation; there was negative pressure induced leading to frequent foul smells in the bathroom from the contaminated droplets that got extracted due to the negative pressure; etc (few more points that I do not recollect well enough).

re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

In a previous apartment that I stayed, there used to be sewer smell when I turn on the exhaust fan, it was obvious that it was drawing from the sewer as the exhaust was the only window. I used to close the bedroom door and used the bathroom with its door open.

I have not seen a water trap till date in any of the bathrooms floor of apartment buildings, just the standard pipe going into a larger pipe down the wall.

re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

We have cockroach traps, which are, essentially, water traps. Occasionally I see a cockroach in one bathroom. There are two floor drains. One is regularly topped up by the shower, the other, I think, dries out, so I put water in it when I remember.

None of these floor drains should connect to the sewage lines from toilets. In our house, I don't think they do, but drains can still give an unhealthy smell. I'm sure many, many, are not so separated.

Absolutely. Don't think religious places are so essential to be opened in such haste. And it's extremely difficult to control the influx of people there.

States will be deciding on many factors. They can even extend the lockdown as required. Full lockdown will continue in containment zones.

Strong opinion ahead.

Religious places were the first thing that were shut when the pandemic hit, and should ideally have been the last to reopen. The last couple of months have shown that we don’t really need religious places in our day today life. But I can imagine the pressures on the decision makers from all kinds of religious lobbies, religion is after all a huge business in India.

We have seen across the world that religious places and gatherings have been some of the biggest bulk spreaders of the virus. It is impossible to ensure social distancing in real world India. They really should not have given the go ahead to reopen the temples and mosques.

Completely agree (and not because I don't partake). All places of mass (no pun intended) congregation should have remained restricted/closed. And whilst religion may indeed be "big business" in this country, I don't see that opening them has any particularly positive economic benefit. That might not be the case if it applied not only to pilgrimage centres but also to the mass travel and tourist facilities associated with them.

I don't see why our view should be a "strong opinion." It is not against or favouring any particular group. And I am sure that many devout people across the whole spectrum of believers will agree with it.

Only if you are thinking of the nation! Wouldn't that be too parochial!??

If you were a politician, you'd see that your own economic benefits does have a (parasitic) dependence on opening up of those religious institutions - from the right vantage point, there is a cause and then there is the effect - very scrutable!
