Good catch! We can expect an addendum to the order soon. Act fast, think later seems to be the name of the game nowadays.

re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

I have been very busy at hospital and have no time to follow news or notifications. But I trust this forum and need your help. Can someone please tell me if interstate travel by car is allowed June 7th onwards as freely as earlier ?? How about the pass and quarantine rules, do they still apply ?? I am planning a solo drive from Mumbai to Belgaum, Karnataka and back to Mumbai ( 1 week round trip ), is this possible post 7th June ?? Thanks in advance.

Seems no one told you, Corona is a nocturnal animal and attacks only in the dark

My second guess is that they want to slowly ease out the relaxations so that the junta does not lose it on getting back their freedom. So after two weeks, they will relax it to 11 pm to 4 am curfew and so on.

On a serious note, apologies I could not think of a logical answer to your question. But I am reasonably confident we will get an equally absurd answer from the policymakers in case someone manages to ask.

Vivek, very broad guidelines have been issued by MHA on Lockdown 5.0 or Unlock 1.0 as it’s referred to, where interstate travel has been allowed among other things. Each state has been given the power to make the restrictions tighter but they cannot dilute them in any way.

I believe our CM Mr. Thackeray is going to address the state tomorrow and let us know what’s restricted in Maharashta and especially Mumbai, Pune etc. There seems to be no relaxation as far as Mumbai is concerned due to the increasing Covid 19 cases.

I feel it would be best to not plan any interstate travel at this time. Wait till a clear picture emerges.

Today - 30th May, 2020

India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020-b795b089e66b4f22bdfa73da79ad45da.jpeg

Actually, if the priest of the small temple that I live next door to did not now have one educated and earning son, he might have found himself in a worse situation than some of our domestic servants. And others in that profession may be less lucky.

The guidelines released today clearly mention that interstate travel has been freed up, but the States can decide on top of this ruling. So we will need to wait for particular directions from various state governments. But expecting some relaxations everywhere.

That said - I highly doubt Karnataka or any other bordering states will freely open the roads with Maharashtra. Even if they do allow - you will most likely have to factor in a full quarantine period.

No visibility wrt the overall situation.

But I believe it allows the majority of cops to go home; among other aspects. Seen the bunch of cops manning the posts replaced by a single cop at 7 pm and vice versa at 7 in the morning.

But if the curfew is removed completely, theoretically you don't even need that one cop to man the post, right? Or am I missing something?

It has been so long and our lawmakers are still figuring out rules.

People are dying because of walking, are committing suicide, are starving to death. The actual numbers of migrant crisis and the brutality of lockdown will be never revealed fully given the tight hold on media.

A heart moving story of Rajesh Chouhan who walked 2000km from Bengaluru to UP. Source

Though lock down is lifted, we still need to maintain social distancing. Having few cops on street can enforce people to follow distancing, wear mask etc.
Curfew in night will ensure that less number of policeman needed in night so they can get much needed rest.
In my opinion this could be one of the reasons behind imposing curfew in night.

Mumbai falls under the 13 cities where travel will not be permitted even under lockdown 5.0 so it will still be under full lockdown. Pass and quarantine rules will apply. So if you travel to another state you will have to remain in quarantine.

As expected Metros got the stick again. Maybe time to start looking at living in Village as a serious option.

Covid is balancing the equations in favor of smaller towns/ villages. Time governments give their dues to the villages.

Also, It was said smaller towns and villages will be overwhelmed with Covid, but we aren't seeing much evidence of this.

This is not for us, it's for the police. We got give them some time to rest. There is simply not enough police to provide 24x7 surveillance.
