All private offices can operate at 10% strength or 10 people in Mumbai,Maharashtra. I bet quite a large percentage of people who own a car will turn up in offices tomorrow. The Mumbai Traffic tomorrow should be an indicator.

Below is a picture of Marine Drive doing the rounds!

The lack of activity in this thread shows everyone's too busy ironing their shirts.
Yeah, Jai Maharashtra I am sure Mumbai will rise again though Learnt that my hometown Belgaum, Karnataka is opening up on a significant scale by tomorrow including restaurants. Trust me, this is the way forward to live with the virus. Many people don't need any sort of hospital care.

Marathi news channels were airing that people can head to beaches in Mumbai/Maharashtra ensuring social distancing. How authentic is this ??? If yes, Lonavala/Pune drive it is during my next off. Getting withdrawal symptoms of not having driven on Mumbai--Pune expressway since 4 months.

In Mumbai, Maharashtra all private offices can open with 10% staff strength, no maximum number anymore. BEST buses will operate with social distancing norms.

Its going to be difficult to commute for people till such time local trains start operating in Mumbai. No way BEST cant carry so much of crowd (with social distancing). Those who have pvt cars will surely take them out today and both the Central and Western Expressway will be chocked today.

Nice pics of your Jeep and Worli seaface. I too drove to Marine drive early morning after my shift ended at the hospital. After a gap of 4 months, felt nice to drive through the SoBo area. ( South Bombay for the uninitiated ).

WHO officials now say that while asymptomatic spread can occur, it is not the main way it’s being transmitted.

If this is true, it can help immensely from the spread. Some good quality Thermometer will be enough to find out correct temperature of people in public spaces. The ones being used today are barely accurate.

I hear a lot of planes at night, probably chartered flights landing at the HAL Airport (now used only occasionally by the IAF) nearby. Another way to circumvent the quarantine requirements, I guess.

Hahaha Karnataka's SOP for Maharashtra changes again even as cases in Mumbai metropolitan region alone crosses 60000. Now the quarantine period for those coming from MH into KA is 14 days i.e 7 IQ+7 home. Remember, it started with 14, then increased to 21 until yesterday, now back to 14. Business traveller with negative covid report clause is explicitly mentioned again and again. I think I am going to take a shot at this one soon.

Re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

Quarantine tourism anyone?

Quote:
Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister of the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, wants to promote the state as a “quarantine tourism” destination. With over three million tourists visiting the state in previous summers, Himachal Pradesh is usually a top destination for tourists.

Thakur’s proposed version of tourism however, has a catch: it prohibits people from going sight-seeing or leaving their hotel at all. The proposal specifies that if the quarantine rule is violated, punitive action would be taken against both the tourist and the hotel.
Quote:
In Dharamsala, a city in Himachal Pradesh, hoteliers also refuse to accept the proposal of the tourism department to restart operations. According to The Tribune, the members of the hotel association of Dharamsala alleged that the government was trying to shift the entire burden of containing the coronavirus on the distressed hotel industry. Sanjeev Gandhi, state co-convenor of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurants Association (FOHRA), said that some of the conditions proposed by the tourism department were illogical.
Link 1, Link 2, Link 3.

This might be to help large hotels and resorts as they usually have large property areas where tourists can walk around (I'm guessing, based on Taj/other similar resorts here in Kerala), considering the fact that the average tourist won't book at such places. Though the part about punishing hoteliers if the tourist is found breaking quarantine is absurd!

Hey Vivek, since you are a doctor, you are exempted from testing and quarantine if coming to Karnataka. Don't know about the family though.

Re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

So far people were demanding to end lock down at the earliest. Now that they are asked to open nobody is interested.
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/76272596.cms
The reason is simple, the lifting of lockdown is not going to help unless people step out and start spending. Now can you force any one to do that. They were scared to death by experts and stupid agencies like WHO. Today also WHO has issued a warning that situation is worsening.
Even religious places don't want to open up.

The government has to take a clear call now. If the virus is here to stay, educate and ask the people to return to normal lives. Else lock down everything till the situation is under control.

Re: India on full lockdown. Edit: Now extended with relaxations till June 30, 2020

The fear that was drilled into minds regarding the virus is not going anywhere too soon. The opening up of the services will slowly but surely make the people believe in the new normal and I hope the fear and stigma around the virus reduces. The recovery rate of patients here in India is very healthy and I think people should slowly realise this fact. And then, there is another front- the side of the livelihood which will take precedence over the fear of virus and which has already resulted in people thronging the public transport systems. India as a country is ill equipped to maintain social distancing with the sheer number of population that it has. The sooner the fear goes about the virus, the better.
