Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Sent a small package back to the US 2 weeks back and true to what India Post indicates in the website, they charged it Rs. 670 (weighed less than 200 g). The consignment reached within 7 days. They also called me up to confirm if it didn't have any medicines or other illegal stuff.

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Bought a complete set of 4 Falken Wildpeak Tyres for my Yeti today.
Bought on PayTM.
Incredible deal. First the price is significantly less than the market rates quoted to me.
Next is the additional cash back that they are giving.

All in all, the deal tempted me a lot and I effectively advanced my purchase by one month - I had planned the tyre change/ upgrade for April - new FY and all that.

But this deal was too good.

@shankar.balan please check the tyre manufacturing year after receiving them, paytm sellers are a bit of a hit and miss, some sell brand new stock some sell older stocks. Agreed that the prices are cheapest. Use the buyhatke chrome extension to track price changes also

I understand. I only bought them because the deal was very good and the fact that many people here have recommended these Falken tyres. I don't think these Falkens have been around very long either.
Saying that, frankly, if these tyres give me a couple years service at 6K a pop I really don't mind too much. I would otherwise need to spend 40K for a set of 4.
Lets see what they are like when they arrive.
And lets see how they behave once fitted.

Agree with all of that. Paytm regularly is the cheapest shopping website, I buy most of my stuff from there. Their cashback is also useful for uber rides so it is not bad to be invested in their ecosystem. I use a shopping forum and the chrome extension to keep track of deals.

One tip, in the normal paytm wallet you can keep 10k a month so if your cashback exceeds that it will come in multiple calendar months or you can get it upgraded to a 1L limit using KYC verification

When did Amazon.com start charging tax ? It used to be tax free for most states (shipping within US), but now I am seeing taxes of even 11.5% !

The Online Shopping Thread-bigbulljackstand3sdl995508603120f3e.jpg

Brand: Big Bull
Capacity: 3 Tons

Expected Delivery: By 15th March.

EDIT:
The price is per piece.
So for the pair it is 1087 x 2 = 2174.

Do they withhold and then payout the excess in the subsequent month? My wife's account had exceeded in Dec and I am yet to check if the amount was paid back later.

In the sense it was 2K in total for the jack stand pair but I had other goods in the cart. Total discount was 1600.

PS: I mis-read your earlier post. Apologies. 1087 was for a piece..

PPS: Have reported my earlier post for editing with the correct price

Earlier they used to charge tax only for some states like NY, but that list is steadily increasing. I know they started in CO from Jan 2016.

Amazon are legally bound to charge tax in states where they have a physical presence. With them increasing their warehouses, most states now get charged with tax.
