Re: The Online Shopping Thread

I must have accepted it when ordering, so this is my stupidity, but I just paid Rs.400 delivery for a Rs.200 item. But what hurts is that the seller sent it by post: cost Rs.41

.

Anyone got the below from Amazon? Maybe my review on some product revealed my email id?

This was prime and Amazon fulfilled.

Any of you have experience dealing with missed deliveries from Amazon.
OT: The fire stick costs 6k now? When I bought it was only 3k

The standalone Firestick retails at ₹3,999/-. Add an Ethernet cable and a remote stand to the cart and you are looking at a price that is just a shade under 6K .

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

I ordered a dashcam from Banggood on 17/10/2018. Things moved pretty fast on tracking till 26/10/2018 where it shows "released by customs, ready for last mile delivery". It has been more than a month after that and it has not yet been delivered and there has been no update in tracking after that.
Contacting Banggood hasn't helped either. All they tell is to wait.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Yes, it is the 4K model released this month.
Amazon re-sent another Firestick after a couple of follow up. I have no clue what happened with the first one I ordered. When I called Amazon for a status update on the investigation, the representative graciously said, I am going send you another one right away. Received in the stick in 3 days.
It is surprising how much they have packaged in such a small stuff.

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Friends, Anyone have any higher contacts in "The Hindu group of publications" ?

I paid for a childrens book online , but even after many escalations with their customer care through email and phone, they are not couriering the book. Every time I sent a remainder, i get a feedback that the issue is taken up with their higher-ups. But no real action is not yet done. Its been about three months, since iam doing the followups.

I ordered a Leather shoe in AliExpress (cost ~$40). Now i got a call from Post office saying i need to pay Rs.1200/- as custom duty. Is that normal? I got few other items through AliExpress before (varying $20 to $100), but never paid additional custom duty.

Looks like the leather caught attention of the customs officials or someone was in a really bad mood when your parcel was undergoing inspection. I presume they do an XRay scan of things that enter the country and if yours was genuine leather, they would have probed into the matter and levied duty. For the plastic and electronic stuff, they are mostly on the lookout for mobile phones and larger boxes, while the smaller ones are just let through. You will get a printed receipt from the Post office or Customs themselves. So if they have that ready, then its official and not something demanded by the post office or its employees.

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Is anyone here facing issues transacting on ebay.com? My paypal doesn't work all of a sudden and neither does my credit card! Customer support is giving all kinds of excuses and making me do a lot of leg work instead of getting in and fixing stuff.

Massive issues and its really annoying! Their website and app is so broken and pathetic compared to the likes of Amazon etc.

Went to the post office and got the item today. One issue i saw in the parcel is that price is mentioned as $59 (may be the original price before discount) instead of my purchase price $38. Will write to the Vendor to see his response on this.

The person in the post office said there is an option to reassess by Customs by giving a written request which they will forward to customs. It will be a lengthy process similar to any other Indian Govt. type, so don't want to waste my time and energy.

Re: The Online Shopping Thread

Anyone bought anything from Lenovo India's webstore? I bought a laptop from them because I didn't have any other choice local or online. So wondering if they are reliable?

Edit: Just received a SMS on phone that it will ship in 2 working days.
Nice!
