I want to buy a health insurance and Term plan as of now my firm provides both. But with weaker job market I don't want to rely on them.
I can buy these 2 now also, I have started searching for good ones.

Looking at the current condition of hairs of myself and my son, I am planning to buy a hair trimmer machine. Also, visiting salon may not be a good idea at this point of time. Second thing will be a good sofa set. Kids are demanding better sofa as too much time on TV

If all goes well, my first major purchase after the lockdown is lifted completely would be a car for my daily commute to office. Exploring used car options as of now, but may consider new ones as well if get some favourable discounts. Looking for BS4 ones primarily, if there is still stock available with the dealers here.

I have realised the importance of a trimmer. In this lockdown it is the trimmer which I am missing a lot.

God knows when the barber shop would open.

1) Washing machine
2) An essential service - a Root canal treatment for my molar tooth
3) A full weights set (barbell, dumb-bells etc.)
These are the first three things that I'll set about to get, in true animal spirit.

I managed to break my spare pair of glasses on a trip just before the lockdown was implemented, and didn't get a chance to fix them. Right now I'm just stuck with my main, expensive pair of glasses and I'm paranoid about what'll happen if I somehow manage to break them too. I'm taking care to not fall asleep with my glasses on (a regular occurrence for me) among other stuff. I keep my glasses on for 18-20 hours in a day, so the first thing I'm gonna buy when the lockdown is lifted is a new pair of glasses (and get the spare pair of glasses fixed).

Why wait till end of lockdown, especially the severance of toothache will be so severe if aggrevated. Came across dentists operating out of there home clinics in chennai treating emergencies. Ping me if you need details.

Voted for others. Planning to get doomsday prep foods and other survival items and setup a refuge in a land somewhere near Himalayas (last one after the funds are good).

Voted for Electronic gadget but have a long list-
1. Laptop- My 12 year old Laptop has become lifeless. Needed a new one anyway for photo editing.
2. Phillips multi groomer/trimmer- afraid of visiting a salon although I am resigned to the fact that most of us will get infected eventually
3. Office chair

The sane voice inside me is asking me to postpone all the purchases till the world settles down and I am confident of retaining my job! I'll probably go (shop) all guns blazing anyway.

Lockdown has taught me how not to spend money on Amazon/Flipkart.

My credit card bill went down by 50-60% as there was hardly any purchase from shopping apps/sites.

This has taught me well that purchases can be delayed. Learnt to spend 'only' when really required. The curious case of 'needs' vs 'wants' and I have my answer.

Hence, voted for Not planning on buying anything

A majority of the replies on this thread are talking about work essentials like laptops, phones, spectacles, office chairs, or trimmers for haircuts. Also, this is an indicator of consumer sentiment, which is clearly leaning towards utilitarian products. I guess TBHP is possibly the best place to find a varied, and mostly mature response to such questions.

My phone has given up. It wasn't very expensive to begin with when I bought it two years ago, but now it has ghost touch issues, so it calls and messages people by itself. I need to borrow my wife's phone for calls. She has work calls through the day, so it's become a bit difficult. A phone is something I definitely need to buy.

And coconut water from a roadside vendor.

Well said. All I want is to go to local park nearby and walk surrounded by nature. And go for a long drive while listening to music...
